Hi guys. Just want to know, how do you guys take care of your daily
driver without going insane? I take care of my old daily driver via
weekly wash and monthly wax with Meguiar's NXT 2.0 paste.

Every week: Wash, polish windows, clean alloys, dress tyres, dress
wheel arches, vacuum interior, dust plastic, remove mud marks on
interior....

Every three months: Pre wax cleanser or AIO type polish followed by a
wax, used Carlack NSC followed by Collinite 476s x 2 and also the
Duragloss 601 and 105 products in the past, like testing new things...

Every six months: Same as above plus clay the bodywork.

Leather cleaned every 3-6 months too.

Wow, your car looks brand new!

What sort of tyre cleaners and dressing can you guys recommend?

Hi there,

This was the process:

Claying was done with Bilt Hamber Auto Clay, arches with APC, wheels with VP (Valet Pro) Bilberry, APC used to degrease tyres which were later dressed with VP Professional Tyre Dressing. Glass cleaned and sealed with Carlack 68 glass sealing kit. Engine cleaned with APC and dressed with AG (Autoglym) Vinyl and Rubber Care, shuts, petrol cap area, sills etc all cleaned with APC and door shuts treated with CG Synthetic detailer afterwards. Interior I used APC to clean all the plastics, Zaino Z-9 Leather Cleaner, Prochem Multi Pro and Prochem Extraction Pro for mats and footwells and finally AG Fast Glass for the windows.

How do you find the Carlack 68 Glass Sealing kit? Is the durability
good? How does it compare to some of those nanotechnology ones that
claim to last up to a year?

I find it really good, apply the Basic cleaner very thin but
vigorously and the sealant very thin and don't miss a spot or it will
show the moment water hits the glass. I have not used the nano ones
that will last a year but I have seen a product called Gtechniq which
is meant to be very good and the key to making it last and be
effective is cleaning the windscreen very thoroughly using neat IPA.

See here: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=g+techniq+glass&aq=f

Wow, you guys really take care of your cars nicely! I'm going to do a
coating test soon, we shall see if they will truly outlast and
outperform sealants and waxes!

Kenneth, I'm sure coatings will definitely outlast sealants/waxes.
Malaysia already PPS(teflon) & SierraGlow(glass) coatings which if I'm
in KL I would've tried which I didn't then as deemed expensive.. Now
realized I've spend more on car detailing products.. ha ha..

Actually I touch my daily drivers too much. Morning light MF dusting
and any dirt remaining, I QD it with ONR 1:16 which is nice almondny
smell cf v2 especially when I notice bird/tree droppings before/after
work.

At weekends, will wash if sun not hot with OCWash, DG901 or NXT.. else
I will ONR 1:256 late evenings. Wash medium was OTC Wash Mitt and MF
towels. now just got my hands on Wools Mitt, Shmitt & Cobra Chenille.

I clayed when I feel like polishing or changing the waxes.. plastic
wrap test is too sensitive as I never got it smooth though felt so
with hand..

Problem is once all is done it's either too hot or too late dark to
apply LSP unless I start early.. Previously OTC Permaglass, Waxco,
Magic101, then Meguiars, Duragloss, Mothers products and generous
samples from folks.

Now I just got my hands on some hard paste; Natty Blue(easy),
Collinite 915(pita keep spraying water) & Autoglym HDWax(yet to try).

Wheels, usually focus on surface only with leftover shampoo. When
thorough will do the wells and apply DG Enviroshield. Engine bay
usually just spot apply some dressings.. Internal cleanings with dry
vac brush the carpet.

Cheers!

Hi Siew Keat,

To be honest, if the owner regularly maintains with regular polishing/
waxing, there really is no need for paint coatings. Yes they
definitely outlast waxes and polymer sealants, but for the price you
pay, are they worth that much more? That is the question.

The way you maintain your cars with dusting and QD, don't even need
wax, hahaha!
