A dear reader asked the following questions, and below them are my
answers. Do feel free to add if you have anything to share. Or ask if
you have questions related to the topics below.

Q-1) Did you manage to get this locally, or you ordered directly from
the US
website? (Jeff's Werkstat Prime)

A-1) I used to get it from AE Detailers, a JB(Johor Bahru) based
online reseller of
Werkstat and Optimum, he has now shifted to KL and his business is on
hold.

If you'd like, I can help you ask if he still has stock, let me know.

Q-2) Generally, can paint sealants be applied on other places, e.g.
wheel
rims, plastic bumpers, windshield?

A-2) Wheels and painted plastic bumpers yes, because although the
materials
of the panel is different( plastic, alloy, etc.) you are working on
the same
thing ON the surface, paint. For glasswork, I recommend using glass
products
as they behave and respond differently to paint products. They will
still
work to a certain degree, but not as effective as dedicated glass
products.

Q-3) Separately, I would like to ask also where can I get Meguiar's
#105 and
#205 locally? Please let me know ya, thanks in advance.

A-3) Locally, you can get them from Hypercoat in USJ, Subang Jaya,
they're the
distributor for Meguiar's in Malaysia.*content removed to protect the
interest of manufacturer/supplier*

Q-4) Are Werkstat / Carlack 68 / Klasse products the same? I notice
that other
than Klasse is not nanotech enabled (dont know what's the difference),
they
are all acrylic based paint sealants.

A-4) Yes I've also read that they come from the same family, werkstat
may even be a repackaged carlack(speculation), but at a higher price.
I guess you can't go wrong with both, just a matter of availability.

Q-5) What is the best way to reapply car wax? I started using
Meguiar's NXT
2.0 Paste and the results are great, but when I wanted to reapply a
few
weeks later, the applicator picks up quite alot of black stuff from
the
paint surface. Should I clay my car at minimum before waxing?

A-5) the black stuff you are pulling out of your paintwork is actually
bonded dirt, the result of letting the car go unwashed for too long.
don't worry, you are not alone on this. A daily driver that sits
outside everyday will have bonded contaminants even if you wash your
car once a week. So you can either increase the frequency of your
washing routine or just live with it. Claying is to remove bonded
contaminants and to restore smoothness to the paintwork. Polishes and
pre-wax cleaners remove ingrained dirt and helps restore/improve the
colour of the paintwork. So even if you clayed before waxing, your pad
will still turn black from the polishing/waxing.

Q-6) What do you normally use for clay lubricant? I read alot of
specialized
clay lubricants available in the market, but some also use car wash
soap as
lubricant.

A-6) diluted car wash soap is a cheap alternative, but tends to
degrade the clay after several uses. Some clay manufacturers recommend
only using water, e.g. Perma glass, soft99, bilt-hamber. Others
recommend using a dedicated clay lubricant, which are mostly quick
detailers. A bulk alternative is meguiar's last touch, 1 gallon can be
diluted 1 to 1 and will not degrade the clay. A newer type is dodo
juice's born slippy, which claims to enhance cleaning power of the
clay. The(born slippy) solution will produce suds while claying.

And to clarify the relation between Carlack and Wertkstat, I want to
share some information I once encountered on DW forums.

Here is a response from Werkstat:
__

Thank you for contacting the Werkstat. We appreciate your interest in
our products and the CL68 line.

Indeed, there is some overlap in function between the Werkstat line
and the CL68 line due to chemical formulation similarities between
some corresponding products. We represent the CarLack product line in
the United States and we have also made use of their extensive
detailing know-how in the development of the Werkstat line. So while
not identical, when our goals for a Werkstat product coincided with
CarLack's goals for a CL68 product, the resulting formulas do end up
being in line.

Nano Systempflege vs. Prime Strong

These formulas are loosely based around a similar core chemical
structure but ultimately differ fairly significantly. Prime Strong has
a higher percentage of durable polymer components and also uses an
incrementally more aggressive polishing agent. Overall, Nano is more
similar to standard Prime. Nano Systempflege is perhaps a more
balanced and rounded formula than Prime Strong which is focused a
little more on the prepwork of cleaning and polishing. Nano is most
often used as an independent 1-step whereas Prime Strong is most often
used as a basecoat, followed with an additional layer of pure sealant.

Versieglung Acrylwachs vs. Acrylic Jett

These formulas are directly comparable, and we would not recommend
purchasing both. Despite formulaic differences, their aesthetics and
their function are still too similar to warrant having both on hand,
in our opinion. AJT however makes a nice addition to Acrylwachs, as it
does for standard AJ.

Kunststoffpflege vs. Satin Prot

Again, similar formulas, directly comparable, and we wouldn't see a
necessity to have both on hand. Kunststoffpflege is slightly more
matte and has modestly better cleaning abilities. Prot is a touch
glossier and more protective.

Shampoo Konzentrat vs. Autobody Wash

Konzentrat is slightly stronger than ABW. ABW is balanced a bit more
for use with natural wax products like CJ/CG as well as with
synthetics like AJT while CL68 SK is focused only for use with the
CL68 synthetic polymers in Nano and Acrylwachs.

Sometimes it does get into splitting hairs, but hopefully this has
been of some help to you. If you have any other questions, please feel
free to reply back.

Happy Detailing!
