Trouble accessing Weather Station database

I'm trying to run an analysis for a site in Dinwiddie Co., VA and upon entering my lat long information the tool stated "no weather stations in my area" and prompted me to use an influence area approach to select the nearest weather station.  I then tried selecting radius of influence (all) > expanded my radius to 100 miles > clicked "Show project and weather stations on Map" > the google maps window launched and I saw the marker for my site, but no surrounding weather stations.  The check boxes at the top to select "show surrounding stations" and "show polygonal influence areas" were grayed out not allowing me to toggle them on and off.  Any ideas how to get the weather stations to display?  I can send you a screen shot if needed.

a) make sure you have downloaded the latest version which currently stands at 1.5.0.22
b) when installing you should install a copy of the database with preloaded stations. To check on that, please go to Parameters-> Station Data GSOD and check if you see the VA weather stations listed.
