Greetings!

The Wetbud team has released version 3.0!

This version includes 138 preloaded stations covering the states of CT, DE, FL, GA, IN, KY, MA, MD, MN, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, WV.

In addition to many new weather stations, a wide range of improvements have been implemented including but not limited to:
  1. More options added to the overbank flow management calculation module.
  2. Addition of a Hydroperiod Library to show ranges of water levels for select reference wetlands.
  3. Project specific hydroperiod curves can now be plotted as part of the results. Basic and Advanced Model output can be compared against reference hydroperiod curves from the library or user-generated curves.
  4. Reporting for both the Basic and Advanced Models have been enhanced.
  5. Revisions to many existing preloaded weather stations.
  6. Updates to Context Sensitive and Book Format Help documents.
  7. Various bugs and typos were corrected.

We are also excited to announce the release of 12 tutorial videos!
  • The tutorials are 10-15 minutes long and focus on Basic Model tools.
  • Tutorials 1 through 8 develop a water budget for a real world example.
  • Tutorial 9 shows how to use the Effective Monthly Recharge (WEM) routines to estimate groundwater flux.
  • Tutorial 10 teaches you how to build your own weather station data set.
  • Tutorial 11 highlights some advanced user features.
  • And Tutorial 12 demonstrates how Wetbud can be used as a graphical user interface for MODFLOW.

If you have not used your Wetbud program much, or you have only run through some of the examples and you don’t have any projects that you need to keep, please uninstall the previous version and install version 3 directly.

If you wish to preserve projects in your existing installation from Wetbud version 2.0, there are updates that will need to be made to the Windows program as well as the database structure. Both updates should be seamless. If updates fail, please take a screenshot of the failure message and contact us. Please note that the new weather station data and influence area polygons packaged with version 3 will not be automatically imported in your existing database. The data are available in the database with pre-loaded stations and the database with pre-loaded stations and examples. To import the data distributed with Wetbud version 3.0 into your updated version 2.0 database, please navigate to the GSOD Stations form (Parameters>Station Data – GSOD (NOAA)) and use the buttons labeled “Import New Preloaded Stations” and “Import New/Updated Polygons and Updated DNW Years.” If updates fail, please take a screenshot of the failure message and contact us.

In any case, the Wetbud install will have made a copy of your existing db.
