Hi everyone, below is a message my mother Patricia Arzac wanted to share with you all:
Hello everyone! Two weeks ago I inserted or attached to your door a
petition to the management office for a traditional Christmas tree to
be installed in the lobbies of 595 and 625 for the coming holidays.
The
closing date for handing me the petitions is Oct. 31st; there are 2
weeks left for those of you interested in putting the petition under my
door.
Two things to bear in mind:
1)
When distributing the letter I had to decide which apartments were
occupied and which were vacant - I erred more than once - that is why I
am putting the text of the petition here, if you are interested in
downloading it,
2) Do not put the petition in
the black "rent box" in the 625 lobby because the envelopes go to the
management office's "rent desk" and will not be combined with our
petition.
To my friends and neighbors who chose not to support this I will say this:
a) I appreciate your honesty,
b)
We all come together in a global holiday that unites us in joy and hope
for the future Dec. 31st, New Year's Day. Without joy and hope we
cannot persevere in life.
Hanukkah and Christmas are celebrated in December because of the winter equinox when light triumphs over the darkness. Our Muslim friends and neighbors acknowledge Jesus as a prophet, Christmas commemorates his birth.
Then
there are other traditions: this month our Hindu friends and neighbors
celebrate the Festival of Lights or "Diwali". I want to express to you
my best wishes for a happy holiday.
Finally,
for those of you still sitting on the fence, from a practical
perspective: those dark winter nights are coming, wouldn't you prefer
something cheerful and light-filled brightening our lobbies?
Best,
Patricia Arzac
