Daily update at 3:00 PM today included status of operations across the
state. TEMA states most of the tornado areas are entering into the
recovery stage. However, several operations are still underway.
Planning and logistics focus has moved to the flooding areas in West
TN. TJHP, TWRA and State Parks have strike teams, over 100 boats and
additional support equipment in place or moving to staging areas.
Staging areas include Jackson, Shelby County, and Reelfoot lake area.
Lake County 911 has been relocated to Hornbeak as most of Lake County
have been cut off due to road s being flooded. They also stated
approximately 60% of Lauderdale County is flooded.
TWRA also warned of the aggressive nature of the poisonous water
snakes. Spring is mating season for the snakes and TWRA encouraged
everyone to use caution if you see snakes in the flood areas as they
will be more aggressive!
Two dates of importance will be upcoming. The first is Sunday May
8th. This is the scheduled crest for the MS river in Tiptonville.
The second is Tuesday May 10th. Tuesday is the forecasted crest date
for Memphis. If forecast are accurate, Memphis will see a record or
near record crest level.
If you have been involved in county to county mutual aid that was
coordinated through the mutual aid system. Please let me know.
Entries will be made into the TEMA system to indicate those
responses. If you request went through TEMA it should already be in
the record.
If you have questions, please let me know.
Thanks!
