I'd like to present this month. I have about 30 mins to an hour on
Wheeler, the language I've been working on in fits and starts. It'll
either be a talk and crude demo, or just a talk with some hand waving
and vapor. :)
As a teaser I'll say that Wheeler is a language with no functions,
objects, or variables. Despite these shortcomings it is somewhat
functional, fairly object oriented (Kay, not Liskov), and quite
stateful.
You will either think it is the stupidest thing you've ever seen, or
it will melt your face. I honestly can't tell at this point, which is
why I'd like to present to you guys for some early-stage feedback.

I hope that teaser didn't raise expectations too much. If anything it
should lower them! Prepare to be underwhelmed. :) This won't be the
Next Big Thing, it's just a little language to play with a few ideas
in isolation and to think about computation a little differently.

Woo hoo! (And that's after lowering my expectations, as requested in

to check what kind of video hookup I might need.
I'm using a Macbook with DVI-D output. Unfortunately, my VGA adapter
is for an older Mac and is DVI-I, which has slightly incompatible
prongs.
Do we know what kind of adapter I'll need to hook up to the projector?
I can get an adapter later today if I can find out what I need.

Are you sure it is DVI-D? If so, then you have no analog output pins
and will need a lot more than an adaptor to drive a VGA projector.

into. However, I have no idea what the Mac puts out in the mini
socket. I borrowed a mini-DVI to VGA adapter at OS Bridge and that
worked fine, so I would be left to guess that the Mac is pumping out
analog too, and that they skimped on the adapter. Which wouldn't
surprise me, since the bastards also skimped on putting a 5 cent amp
on the line-in so I can't use a headset. Not that I'm bitter. :)
Obviously I punted tonight and brought my ginormous PC with it's
native VGA. Next time I'm bringing my Kaypro. Probably weighs about
the same.

I bet the playskool digital camera (like $19.95 or something) has a
tv-out. You can just make your slides out of collage + whiteboarding
and photograph it... then bring that to hook to the projector.
