There's Mingos, and a Thai place in the round. Is there a 3rd
restaurant in the round? Monday or Tuesday night would work for me.
There are a couple of other places that are not too far from the Max
line Beaverton Round stop, but not right on it - probably a 5 minute
walk. There's a Mexican place called Pepitas and a Thai place called
Thai Derm (sounds like some kind of skin care product).
Phil
Yeah, I think Pepitas would be a good choice. It's affordable fare.

It's not too bad. One block south, cross the street and cross the
parking lot.

*laugh* Not by some definitions.

There's also that place that we try to go to afterwards occasionally
(generally w. Igal) that's frequently just closing. Can't recall the
name though.

It's been several years since I ate there. Used to be pretty OK Mexican food.

Well, there's a cart there with really good burritos etc., but no
place to sit...
Beyond that "near" is a relative term. Most places would be down
south of TV Hwy. There are a couple of places in that old central
beaverton area between TV Hwy and Farmington. Gloria's Secret Cafe
has great Salvadoran food, but It's hours can be pretty
sporadic...googling... oh, well, it looks like she's currently not
open in the evenings according to this: http://gloriassecretcafe.com/
...but if you do get a chance to get over there for lunch I highly
recommend it.
There's also a couple of restaurants in that shopping center next to
the Beaverton Transit center. There's Jin Wah (

) and there's a sushi restaurant (the kind where the sushi floats by).
Someone mentioned a place they went with Igal, I think that was Hall
St. Bar & Grill. That's about a 5 minute walk from the round.

Awww. :)
Unfortunately, this Tuesday evening is already taken, but I could make
it on Monday -- but I realize that doesn't give much time for changing
plans and may exclude others that already spoke up, so I'm not really
suggesting a change.

I think Jin Wah is a good choice. Close to the Beaverton Transit
center. Plenty of room.

Has this thread reached the "executive decision threshold" yet?

Jin Wah, 7PM tomorrow night?
Phil
Pepper Salted <anything> (fish, squid, tofu, etc.)
Shredded Pork in Spicy Garlic Sauce
Ginger Chicken (if you LOVE ginger)
Dry Sauteed String Bean (note that by default this is not vegetarian,
but you can ask for it to be made so)
Snow Pea Leaves in Garlic Sauce (large leaves are better)
Shaking Beef (also called Bo Luc Lac)
#44 (pork, or the same dish but with chicken, which I think is #51 or
52 but I'm not sure) - this is Vietnamese grilled meat over rice
noodles and vegetables. Pour the sauce over the whole thing and enjoy.
They do a very good job of the normal Chinese dishes, like General
Tso's, Moo Shu, etc.)
About the only things I don't like here are anything "Hong Kong
Style" (but that's just personal taste) and the Dim Sum (but only
because China Town Restaurant, at Murray and Walker, has fantastic Dim
Sum).

This one sounds a bit scary.

I've been trying to find a restaurant that serves Nem. Nem is a
Vietnamese dish that consists of some grilled meat (sometimes you
grill the meat yourself at your table on a small charcoal stove), a
platter of fresh vegetables, and rice paper sheets (sort of like a
thin burrito wrap). You put some meat and veges in a wrapper, roll
them up, and dip them in Nuoc Mam sauce. Yummy! So far, the only
place I've found it is at Yen Ha out on Sandy Blvd, but they are only
ok and I'd like something closer. I've also heard Nem called
"rollups" or "beef with lemongrass cooked at your table" and other
names.
If anyone sees a similar dish at a Vietnamese restaurant anywhere
(especially on the west side), please let me know!

meal. The last Vietnamese place I frequented served the bbq pork on
the rice noodles and also a fish cake and some spring rolls. So I'm
still searching for the total package I guess :) I'll check out
Saigon.
