HitachiConstruction Machinery has acquired Kawasaki Construction Machinery (KCM) through a share purchase, effective October 1, 2015. This makes KCM a 100-percent-owned subsidiary of Hitachi. Hitachi and KCM had been in a joint venture since 2010.

KCMA (Kawasaki Construction Machinery of America), a subsidiary of KCM, will continue with the marketing and distribution of Kawasaki‐KCM wheel loaders through its existing network in North America.

At a recent dealer event and press conference in Arizona, KCMA said this makes Hitachi Construction Machinery the third largest heavy construction equipment manufacturer globally after Caterpillar and Komatsu.

With Hitachi, not only do they have an intimate understanding of how to market and distribute standardized products, but they have a very deep understanding of not only our business, but of the global construction equipment marketplace. From this standpoint, opportunities for future expansion, growth and adaptation to the market is going to be a lot easier to facilitate for Kawasaki-KCM branded machines in North America.

KCM and Hitachi Construction Machinery have been working together to develop next-generation wheel loader models that meet new emissions standards as well as to sell Kawasaki wheel loaders in the Japanese market based on their partnership agreement first announced on October 31, 2008. As part of the agreement, KCM will supply three large-size wheel loader models, which have been widely used for aggregate processing and stone crushing purposes as well as in marble quarries, to Hitachi Construction Machinery on an OEM basis. Hitachi Construction Machinery began selling these wheel loaders in the European market via its local subsidiary in January 2010. KCM will take this opportunity to expand its overseas sales channels and boost the profitability of its wheel loader business.

DennisZ - 3/29/2015 05:46 I'm asking this question for a friend of mine who called me yesterday about new wheel loaders for a dairy farm. He put the same question on Heavy Equipment forum but is not getting much replies. He wants a 15000 kg (33000 lbs) loader to feed, load manure and pack silage. He doesn't have the budget for a Cat or a Volvo. So what is the next best loader? Komatsu, Case, Hyundai, Doosan? Anyone have experience with them? How many hp should he get and what transmission? Torque, Hy-stat ? Going to put on stock talk also. TIA DENNIS

Hitachi wheel loaders have 45 plus years of heritage of strength and reliability. The full-sized wheel loaders provide plenty of punch when it comes to high production work. They have the lift height to load off-road trucks and the breakout force to dig when needed. But they also boast the most up to date controls and features to keep productivity and efficiency high throughout the shift.

The full-sized wheel loaders have larger cabs with flat-glass windshields, which makes field replacement easier. For really dusty jobs, they have wider spaced radiator fans for easier cleaning. These are just some of the features that make Kawasaki wheel loaders the best in class.

Hitachi Construction Machinery Loaders America (HCMA) will debut new technology, wheel loader models and support tools at ConExpo-Con/Agg, exhibiting in the North Hall (Booth N11539) of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The displays will include new models to the Hitachi Dash-6 wheel loader line, which features Tier 4 Final engines equipped with SCR systems that use a simple DEF system instead of a diesel particulate filter (DPF). According to the company, eliminating the need for a DPF equates to lower engine temperatures and no DPF regens is required.

Specialised wheel loader manufacturer KCM Corporation merged with its parent company, Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. Ltd in April. While KCM has been manufacturing wheel loaders for HCM for a number of years, and both brands have been available in New Zealand, HCM ultimately planned to unify the brands to Hitachi.

Kawasaki wheel loaders will no longer be sold under the Kawasaki brand but will now be sold by CablePrice (NZ) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of HCM, under the Hitachi brand. This will broaden the existing Hitachi wheel loader model line-up.

This change will ensure that customers, committed to the features and benefits of the Kawasaki model line-up, can continue to purchase and operate these machines under the Hitachi brand via CablePrice.

The move is the result of a global merger between specialised wheel loader manufacturer Kawasaki Construction Machinery (KCM) into parent company Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM).

CablePrice managing director and chief operating officer Pat Ward says he is looking forward to continuing the success of Kawasaki wheel loaders which have previously been distributed by Matamata-based company Mimico.

CablePrice will focus on providing customers with a seamless transition, ensuring a quality after-sales service is provided through our 18 strong nationwide branch and service network while continuing to grow new wheel loader sales.

KCMA Corporation has been active in the North American construction equipment market since 1962 when Kawasaki Heavy Industries built their first articulated wheel loader in Japan. As one of the largest heavy industries in Japan, Kawasaki provided a depth of engineering expertise that eventually made their wheel loader a major global player. As they introduced the wheel loader into the North American market in 1978, they found a positive reception for a productive, high quality loader. They established a solid support system built around an extensive, independent network of dealers that were committed to providing quality support along with quality equipment.
