Androiddevices now allow users to run WiFi and hotspots simultaneously, enhancing connectivity options. This feature can be useful in various scenarios, including extending weak Wi-Fi signals or bypassing device limitations in settings like hotels.

Android has been a platform of limitless possibilities, often ahead of its iOS counterpart in features and flexibility. Using WiFi and hotspot in Android devices simultaneously was challenging a few years ago and required device rooting. Thanks to software updates and hardware advancements, the feature is natively supported on many Android devices.

This will activate wifi and Hotspot in Android while keeping your Wi-Fi enabled. But remember, this is the simplest and fastest way to enable it, and it might not offer you the full range of customizable options.

wifi name is ADMIN I corrected it but it still gives the same error and also the 8920657626 is password of hotspot.

also we can choose the desired name we want for our hotspot so this isn't the issue.

It seems that with one wireless network card, I can either connect the wifi or create hotspot. But in windows, I can connect the wifi, create hostspot and share the network with the hotspot as the same time. In the ubuntu, what should I do?

and look for the part, where interface combinations are mentioned. This will tell you about the capabilities of your WiFi hardware/driver.You get info about which modes can be used in parallel (if supported) and how many channels are available for this (on most standard HW you will be limited to a single channel).

To turn on Wifi hotspot to share the intenet without disconnecting from WiFi (means both are running at same time). This tool can be helpful for this. Follow the steps given there. This tool has a nice GUI and easy to use.

it is very possible to use hotspot and browse the internet with the same wifi card at the same time (simultaneously).i have been using it for sometime now.ideapad 100s 141br with card intel dualband 3160,ubuntu.

an open AP , where wlp2s0 is my physical wireless card, MyAccessPoint is my hotspot name. The first wlp2s0 is where you want to supply with internet, and the second wlp2s0 is the card connected to the internet (in this case it is the same card). The command would be running it the terminal so tuck it into the launcher. You can stop the hotspot from terminal with ctrl+c

Going with point 3, if any software was developed to allow both client and AP mode simultaneously the radio would first need to communicate like a client and then pass the data along as an AP. The latency would be undesirable, and the most likely cause that no one has made software to run both client and AP mode at the same time.

I have a Huawei Honor 8X running Android 9 and it is pretty new - probably a year or so old. I am currently running it dual-SIM - one for my telephone number and one for mobile data. I am doing this as my telephone contract is pretty cheap, and the data contract is genuinely unlimited 4G. All phone operations default to one SIM, all data operations default to the other.

I have noticed that my phone wifi hotspot stops working when I am on an inbound or outbound telephone call. This is becoming a bit frustrating as sometimes I need to access something on the web while speaking to someone. I have done a bit of research on the web, and found that some phones prioritise voice data over internet data, but that situation may be changing on newer phones (presumably as network bandwidths generally improve).

My situation is a bit different in that I expect I have two modems (one per SIM card) and so even if this restriction still applies to phones with one card, I hope I might be exempt because I am running two.

Of course my ideal situation would be to cancel the voice contract and use data/voice on one contract. However I am happy to maintain both in the phone if I can get if that is the only way it will work. If this is considered hard to do these days - even with a modern phone - I can transfer the data card to a dongle and carry that separately.

What this means is that you can use only one SIM at a time be it for data or voice unlike Dual SIM Dual Active phones where you can use both SIMs simultaneously for voice /data.Also the user manual which can be downloaded from here does not mention Dual SIM Dual Active.

Only solution is to use one SIM that has both voice and data plans since your device supports VoLTE (see user manual). Be aware that if you use both SIMs on 4G/VoLTE, only one will work on 4G and the other on 2G

Since iOS 12.2 I can no longer use a wifi hotspot connection and a Bluetooth at the same time. In the past, using my iPhone SE, I have turned on the wifi hotspot to synchronize my Kindle and at the same time continued to listen to music streaming to my Bluetooth speakers. Beginning with the iOS 12.2, if I try the same configuration, neither works properly: the music sputters and the syncing takes forever (or just doesn't happen). I can turn off the Bluetooth streaming and the wifi hotspot syncing will work properly, but I would prefer to have both working at the same time as they did in the past.

I watched the tutorial video on network setup, and it clearly demonstrated that it's possible to have all 3 networking modes enabled at the same time. HOWEVER, when I configure the Ui24R to join an existing WiFi network, the Internal Hotspot becomes disabled. And after doing that, if I try to re-enable the Internal Hotspot, the WiFi Configuration becomes disabled. I can't manage to get both configured and enabled at the same time. Has anyone else run into this? My Ui24R is brand new, firmware version 3.4.8318-ui24.

As far as I know, it is not possible to connect to Wifi on a Laptop and creating a hotspot (without using a Wireless usb adapter) in the same time. But recently with my friend using his laptop (an old small size HP notebook) he could share the internet on Windows 10 by creating a Hotspot and connecting to the Wifi in the same time.

I own a pixel 7a and a 3a. On my 3a running stock android, I can run the hotspot and Wifi at the same time, so I often use it as a wifi extender. However, on my pixel 7a, when I run the hotspot, wifi is disabled. Is this a GOS problem or a pixel 7a problem?

On my 6a, I can have hotspot and wifi enabled at the same time (enabling hotspot does not disable wifi automatically like it does on my 7a) which allows me to share my wifi instead of cell. Seems like a bug or some hardware change that causes it, perhaps?

I would like to create a WiFi Hotspot using the Raspberry Pi. It does not have to provide a internet connection to the devices which are connected. But the raspberry Pi should still be connected to the WiFi so that it can be in the internet. I followed a tutorial to create a hotspot which works well. Unfortunately I cannot connect to the internet anymore with the raspberry pi. So is it possible that I create a "local" hotspot without internet and connect at the same time with my raspberry pi to a wifi network or is it simply impossible?

Yes, it is possible to establish an access point and connect the RasPi as client to your internet router at the same time only with one WiFi interface. It is able to use the physical interface wlan0 and create a second virtual interface ap0 on the same device. There is no need to use an additional WiFi dongle. How to do it you can look at Access point as WiFi router/repeater, optional with bridge.

Of course this example is made to connect the devices on the access point to the internet, because most people want this. But it is no problem to just cut the routing between access point and internet connection. In the tutorial in section Step 4: setup static interfaces you find to create the network file /etc/systemd/network/12-ap0.network. In this file just omit or comment the line IPMasquerade=yes. This is what the access point connects to the internet. Without it you are still able to connect from the RasPi direct to the internet using interface wlan0 but other devices on the access point cannot.

This is not a recent addition per se on Samsung Galaxy phones, but it might not work on all Galaxy phones. We tried it on the Galaxy S23 and S22 series where it was working perfectly, but not so much on the Galaxy A54. This could be a hardware limitation due to the processor or a better modem on the flagship series. So, we urge you to go through this method and try it on your own Galaxy.

1. To use Wi-Fi and hotspot at the same time on Samsung Galaxy Devices, first connect the phone to your Wi-Fi network. Then go to the Settings app on your device and then tap on Connections.

4. Now, turn ON the Mobile Hotspot. When you enable Mobile Hotspot, you will see your device is connected to the Wi-Fi and has Hotspot turned on as well. This way, you should see that your Android is sharing your Wi-Fi as a separate network for other devices.

Now you know how to share any Wi-Fi network with others in the form of a hotspot, enhancing your workflow. This way, you can use the Internet on all phones and even laptops even if a network allows access to only one device. Simply turn your phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot while still using Wi-Fi.

No, or at least it doesn't work on my Android phone. A hotspot is where you use your mobile phone signal to provide a WiFi connection to another device. You can't connect while you are using WiFi on the host device.

Setting up your phone as a wi-fi hot spot only works when you are connected to a cellular network. When you connect to a cellular network at sea, it is via satellite roaming, not the ships wi-fi network.
