Hello West Newton Community,
Friends of Wellington Park (FoWP) would like to share two upcoming events:
1)
Get ready for a day of family fun and monarch magic! The Fifth Annual Newton Monarch Festival is fluttering into Wellington Park this Saturday, September 13th from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM (rain date Sunday, September 14th). Co-sponsored by FoWP, this free community event is perfect for all ages, especially kids who are naturally fascinated by the wonders of nature and butterflies. Join us for a unique opportunity to learn about these incredible creatures and discover how you can help protect them. The event will include live monarch encounters, a butterfly garden tour, a kids' zone, a milkweed plant and seed exchange, local experts, and a prize drawing. 2) Save the date for
Wellington Parkfest! This annual event will be held on
Sunday, October 5th (rain date Sunday, October 26th)
from 12-3pm at Wellington Park. We'll have all the usual fun including live music, a magic show, pumpkin decorating, face painting, free food, the Wellington Olympiad kids' race, and more! To make Parkfest a success,
we need VOLUNTEERS to help with tasks such as set-up, food prep, and clean-up and
DONORS to contribute money, packaged snacks, or drinks.

An important note about PARKING for both events:
Parking is limited. If possible to leave cars at home, we recommend it! Parking is permitted only on the southbound side of Kilburn Road. Additional on-street parking can be found on nearby streets such as Henshaw Street, Henshaw Place, Henshaw Terrace, Lindbergh Avenue, Southgate Park, Northgate Park, and Byrd Ave. When parking on these residential streets, please be courteous to neighbors and park on the same side
as other cars. Please do not block accessibility ramps and crosswalks.
Warmly,
The Friends of Wellington Park Board
