Russo's alternatives?

Now that Russo's has been gone nearly 9 months, has anyone settled into a good alternative for produce?  I love the produce at Roche Bros in Wellesley, and while they do have locally grown produce, they don't venture outside the standard offerings.  Market Basket in Waltham is good, but they don't stock the Canadian strawberries and other locally grown produce that Russo's carried.

I'd love to hear your best ideas.

Thanks,
Valerie

I use Roche Brother too. I also think Hannafords in Waltham has some nice fruits that have been good.

Since Russo's has closed it is hard to also find good Italian Bread.  Anyone have any suggestions for that.  I have gotten some from Whole Foods but would really like to find a more local bakery that has similar to Russo's Italian Bread.

Thanks Joanne

Volante farms in Natick.  Like a mini Russo’s , local strawberries,  but missing the greens and mushroom options that Russo’s offered. The pasta at Russo’s came from Dave’s Fresh pasta in Cambridge/Sommerville daily but I haven’t seen it anywhere since Russo’s closed.    We could use a better deli for Italian meats and cheeses as well.

Btw,  the small plaza on comm av near Lexington st was sold, haven’t heard much yet but expect that to be redeveloped at some point, could have another food store there,

I've been really happy with Boston Organics for many years (https://bostonorganics.com/). They do source a lot of stuff from around New England.

If that seems appealing, feel free to e-mail me directly, and I can share a referral code for 10% off the first order (mutual benefit!).

My go to is Cmart in Boston.   There’s free parking and 15min from W Newton.  It’s right off the Mass Pike.  They have a nice variety of Asian and common produce and prices are extremely reasonable.  It’s not fancy, an indoor farmers market vibe.  You can grab some takeout at one of the mom and pop places after.   They struggled during COVID and appreciate the business :)

Closer to home, there’s the Indian grocers on Moody St
Here’s a pic of a recent visit.

I’m not sure how much of the above  is locally sourced- for that, the Newton farmers market is where I go.

Hope this helps.

Wilson Farms in Lexington is a great option. Also the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings beginning at 9:30 AM, Waltham Embassy Theatre parking lot.
