My Husband has used Superior shoe repair on Main Street in Waltham- Across the street from Hanafords.  He has always been happy with their work.

I can recommend 2 repair shops near downtown crossing where the shoemakers were trained by my grandfather if helpful.

Thanks so much.  I'll try the place in Waltham.  Hopefully they can do it.  Downtown Crossing sounds promising but unfortunately it's pretty far outside my regular stomping grounds so it's unlikely to happen any time soon.
