Hi,

Anyone else have problems with building inspection services not showing up for appointments? Contractors waiting around for inspectors that don't show up drove up my recent project costs by probably a couple $k. Is this because the city hasn't staffed them in proportion to all the developments going up? Seems much worse now than in the past. Wondering if it's just me.

Best,
LJ.

Emily,

Thank you for following up. Final inspector did show up today and closed the permit. It's pretty frustrating to have inspectors schedule then not show up - I think I had three instances on this job - and I'm paying a plumber or electrician hundreds of dollars to wait for a no show. Then to add insult to injury the assessor showed up promptly while I'm stuck with open permits to re-asses and raise my taxes. I can complain to city counselors, but by then I'm already out $k in plumbers and electricians waiting around for no-show inspector. Since no one else corroborated my experience, maybe it's more isolated.

Thanks,
Linas.
