Saving West Newton Cinema

I went to the Cinema today and it reminded me what a pleasure it is for the city to have such a cultural resource so close to us. I'm not sure what our city leaders are doing to help the Cinema survive, but with the ability to spend the newly found $49 million dollars in the city's bank account, let's help some of that money can be allocated to the Cinema. Is there another cultural institution in the City that has wider appeal than the Cinema?

Also, it seems the Cinema could qualify for Community Preservation Funds since those funds can be allocated to cultural institutions. I see that CPA committee is considering spending $2.1 million dollars on new windows for Warren Jr. High. I like the Warren building, but it would seem that helping the Cinema would have a much wider impact. Let's hope the CPA committee feels the same way.
