First of all  - the return address of this email is 791 Walnut st - which is the Newton Cemetery.     I don't think that the Newton GOP has an office there, do you?  Whoever sent this is pretending to be the republican party - dirty tricks abound in this election.

Secondly - yes Jim is a republican and i disagree with many of his stands on things   - but let me tell you that I have disagreed with many of Julia's positions.

I want to share two essential reasons why I support Jim and not Julia:

1.  Julia was the only councilor who twice voted against the use of CPC funds for COVID emergency rental assistance. This money kept suffering Newton residents in their homes. 

 2.  In one ZAP meeting, we learned from the Planning Department that they were planning to reach out to underrepresented groups to hear their feelings on Newton's villages.  The special focus groups included renters, people with disabilities, young families, and LBGTQ  people.   During that meeting, Julia was not there but she sent in a question via Pam Wright.   Her question-given voice by Pam was "Why do LBGTQ people deserve their own focus group?".  That question disgusted me.  I made my mind up then and there that if there was a strong candidate to run against Julia i would support that person. 

I feel that I can rest assured that Jim will support those in need in Newton - no matter that race, creed color or sexual orientation.

Hmmm...  I thought I had locked this thread - perhaps that function doesn't work.

Please, please, please.  Everyone.  I know the election is tomorrow, but this forum IS NOT THE PLACE to tout the reasons you support one candidate over another!  We have rejected several messages already like that and we are not planning to turn this into a political and election-related free-for-all.

I know that people know better.  Please use appropriate discipline and judgement for the next 24 hours and we will all emerge on the other side of the election together.  Thank you!

It is pretty sneaky starting a new thread after it was explicitly stated  why the  former thread was closed.  I would have hoped that an elected official would have demonstrated more decorum.   All the other elected officials, including our state representative, Kay Khan, has always shown the respect of keeping a low profile on our list when they don't live in the neighborhood.   We have never had the need to explicitly put them on moderation.

Please review the sandbox rules and do not ruin our neighborhood resource.
