Both Parakeets have been found and returned home!

Hi Listserve Neighbors,
I thought you might like to know that both parakeets that escaped almost three weeks ago have been found and safely returned home!
The first bird, Caicos, was found thanks to this listserve. I met Shirley the day the birds escaped as she was looking for them in a tree in my neighbor's yard, so I offered to post information about their escape on the listserve. A couple members of this listserve responded that there had been multiple postings on the Franklin School listserve from people seeing a yellow parakeet. They put Shirley in touch with the finders and Caicos was safely home within a day!
The second bird, Tika, just came home today, 2 1/2 weeks after their Great Escape! Tika had been hanging out 1.5 miles away in a cherry tree in someone's garden in Waltham the entire time. It was a crazy coincidence. The woman who has been observing and feeding Tika for the past 18 days lives in Waltham. A couple of days ago, she went into a thrift store in Watertown to buy a used bird cage hoping to coax the parakeet inside out of the elements. The salesperson in the thrift store happens to be Shirley's upstairs Newton neighbor who knew she was still missing a bird. They exchanged info, not expecting anything to come if it. The thrift store salesperson gave Shirley the information, and today Shirley met up with Tikas adoptive “mommy”, confirmed that she was indeed Tika, and coaxed Tika back into her cage. Talk about coincidence!! Such a small world :) Tika is wet and dirty (albeit well fed) but her friend Caicos will get her cleaned up shortly.
Nice to have a reminder about the help we can provide and the value of connections that can be made when we reach out and communicate with each other!
