Newton EDC announces 2014 Business Excellence Award Winners The Newton Economic Development Commission has announced the winners of its third annual Business Excellence Awards.   The awards recognize Newton businesses, individuals, and organizations who have contributed to and expanded the vitality of the city's village centers, advanced business attraction, and improved the overall economic development climate of the city.   Receiving awards at the Business Excellence Awards ceremony on Monday Oct. 20 will be: Auburndale Village Business Award - Wally's Wicked Good Ice Cream and Treats Chestnut Hill Village Business Award - Wegmans Newton Centre Village Business Award - Newtonville Books Newton Corner Village Business Award - Honda Village Newton Highlands Village Business Award - Green Planet Kids Newton Lower Falls Village Business Award - Lower Falls Wine Newton Upper Falls Village Business Award - Dunn-Gaherin's Newtonville Village Business Award - The Paint Bar Nonantum Village Business Award - Antoine's Pastry Shop Waban Village Business Award - Waban Hardware West Newton Business Award - L'Aroma Café and Bakery The Destination Business Award - New England Mobile Book Fair The Community Business Award - Century Bank/Newton Centre The Citizen Champion Award - Teresa Sauro/Nonantum.   A cocktail reception honoring the winners will be held Monday, Oct. 20 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Newton War Memorial at Newton City Hall (1000 Commonwealth Ave, Newton). The event is free.           Note: This is not a Chamber event. The Chamber is assisting the Newton EDC by registering attendees.         tomorrow evening... Progressive Networking  Crawl Wed. Oct. 8, 4-6:15pm At Showcase SuperLux, The Cottage & Del Frisco's Grille THE STREET, 55 Boylston St, Chestnut Hill $10 for chamber members, $20 for non-members Join us for networking on the move as we visit three stellar spots at The Street in Chestnut Hill.  The event will start off in the lounge at Showcase SuperLUX, move to The Cottage and conclude at Del Frisco's Grille.We'll spend about 45 min in each location - join us at one, or all three! Each will be providing menu samples, plenty of space to network and a cash bar. Plus, we'll be giving away raffle prizes and other swag courtesy of our host restaurants and The Street.
