Westlake Robotics and FRC 2468 Team Appreciate is offering online remote learning camps this summer utilizing Zoom Video Communications Platform.

 

Registration isnow open for camps! 

 

Additional camps will be added to the choices over the next week or so. Camps for elementary ages coming soon. We will send a message when new camps are added!

Please note the grade is for 2019-2020 school that was just completed in the registration.  It is not to grade they will be going into this 2020 Fall semester.  Example: A rising 6th grader should be registered as a 5th grader, the grade that was just completed.

June 15th-19th

Learn how to Program in Python (Part 1) (Using Zoom) 
Part 1 - June 15th-19th, 9am-12pm, $250
Learn how to program with Python, which is the fastest growing programming language.

We will be learning how to use an online coding environment to develop programs.  
We will learn how to use variables, data types, expressions, input, output, Boolean logic, if/else statements, for loops and while loops, arrays (lists), built in functions, and write functions.
Many real-world examples will be utilized. 

·         You will need to supply your own computer or tablet with internet connection and web camera.

·         Camp counselors are members of the WHS Robotics team.

·         Taught by Lynden Rosier, Eanes ISD teacher, and supervised by Westlake Robotics Coach Norman Morgan.

·         Grades: Completed 5th-8th grades (rising 6-9)


June 22nd - 26th
Python Programming (Part 2) with Objects (Using Zoom)
Part 2 - June 22nd-26th, 9am-12pm, $250
Learn how to program with Python, which is the fastest growing programming language.

This is a continuation of the first course. We will be learning how to use an online coding environment to develop programs.  We will be using all concepts from the first course plus we will be learning about functions with parameters, sorting, searching, and Object-Oriented Programming.  Many real-world examples will be utilized using Object Oriented Programming.

·         You will need to supply your own computer or tablet with internet connection and web camera.

·         Camp counselors are members of the WHS Robotics team.

·         Taught by Lynden Rosier, Eanes ISD teacher, and supervised by Westlake Robotics Coach Norman Morgan.

·         Grades: Completed 5th-8th grades (rising 6-9)

 

June 29th-July 3rd
Learn how to Program in Swift (Using Zoom) 
Part 1 - June 29th-July 3rd, 9am-12pm, $250
Learn how to program with Apple's Swift programming language.  
We will be learning how to use an online coding environment to develop Swift programs.

Java Programming for FTC Contest Robotics (Using Zoom) 
Part 1 - July 13th-17th, 9am-12pm, $250
FIRST Tech Challenge from FIRST Robotics utilizes JAVA programming. Learn to program in JAVA for an FTC contest. Program a pre-constructed FTC Robot to move with phones and JAVA Programming. Write Autonomous programs using sensors such as limit switches, encoders, light sensors, etc. We will be using Zoom lessons with breakout sessions.

·         You will need to supply your own computer with internet connection and web camera. (PC or Mac, 8GB RAM memory minimum).

·         We will help you install Android Studio and the FTC Code Kit from Qualcomm on day 1.

·         Camp counselors are members of the WHS Robotics team. 

·         Taught by Lynden Rosier, Eanes ISD teacher and supervised by Westlake Robotics Coach Norman Morgan. 

·         Grades: Completed 5th-8th grades (rising 6-9)

July 20th-24th
Java Programming for FTC Contest Robotics (Using Zoom) 
Part 2 - July 20th-24th, 9am-12pm (Part 1 Required), $250

If you are a returning family and want to enroll a child that hasn't attended camp through Westlake Robotics STEMConnect before, you can add them after clicking Enrollment and then select "Add Student".

 

To begin registering your child, choose "Enroll NAME for 2020" in the Enrollment tab.

We will be offering additional camps for other grades including LEGO EV3 for FIRST LEGO League, TinkerCAD 3D Design, Rubik's cube problem solving, and hopefully others.
