game I umpire

I’m totally disgusted with the Gold Division
I umpired a game between Desperados and sultans of swing today.
Apparently , if two coaches agree, Rules can be BROKEN..rules in Gold are broken, changed, misinterpreted, rewritten at any time or ignored..rule violations were ok’d by the IC at recent coach’s meeting

During this game while umpiring I saw at least 3 major rule violations
I know softball rules while playing and umpiring .
I made a correct call regarding a near collision at second and the abuse I took from players was unsettling.. the coach never intervened
At the end of the game one coach refused to shake my hand
I will Never umpire his games again
As a coach I will NEVER break a rule as I respect the game too much
BTY one of the coaches who breaks rules also writes them

Is this what the Relics is all about?

I’m not a quitter , but I’m close to saying enough. However I have enough integrity and respect for my players not to quit on my team

I agree, stay with the rules as written.  And someone recently posted our rules of conduct.  Abusive players are to be ejected and suspended, so why were they allowed to continue?

Umpires are in charge of the games at all times. They can eject any player that gets too argumentative or in their opinion out of hand. As IC I will not get involved while a game is ongoing. (Unless absolutely necessary).

WE seem to forget this is a rec league if both coaches agree to be flexible it should be allowed
second base is a judgement call there should be no argument

The purpose of this organization shall be:

To provide an opportunity for senior men (50 years plus), regardless of ability, experience, physical challenges or limitations to play organized softball in a recreational program that promotes competition, exercise, sportsmanship, teamwork, friendship and entertainment.

This is supposed to be a fun time for all. Remember that we are (especially the Gold Division guys) close to death's door. Being called out on a close play isn't on my list of things to get upset about in my life. Weather a pitch is too high or too low, who cares. We are very fortunate to be playing at our age. Just visit a local nursing home and compare that to being called out on a controversial play. 

These are my own personal thoughts. Let everyone have fun and get a little exercise and PS: I think that there are way too many rules.
