Invitation to Special Day with the Austin Family

Many of you now know the incredible series of events that took place that created this special relationship with Lt. Michael Austin's Family. If you do not, attached is the column I wrote for the Springfield Republican last year.

On Saturday Aug 2nd we are honoring again the sacrifice of Lt. Austin. And celebrating his memory with his Family.

With some wonderful help from Lauren Dutton (Mike's Daughter) I have reserved an area at Polar Park for the 4 PM Game.

Members of the Austin Family & Ken Thompson's Family will be there. And the WooSox are planning to acknowledge the story of this connection.

Note: Prior to the Game we are also considering a short side trip to the Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans Memorial. It is only about 10 minutes from Polar Park. Lt. Austin's and Cpl Roger Gaughan's names are among the 1,546 men and 1 woman who remain missing or were killed in action.
