"RELICS CODE OF CONDUCT
No member of the RELICS shall conduct himself on or off the field of play in a manner which would bring discredit, dishonor, or embarrassment to the organization.
A RELIC should be courteous and refrain from the use of profane language, gestures, or expressions that would cause any uneasiness or embarrassment to spectators or players.
A RELIC should enjoy the game for its exercise and camaraderie; should display good sportsmanship; should conduct himself as a gentleman; and should play by the rules outlined in this rule book.
The Umpires are volunteers from RELICS players. Treat them with respect! There should be no verbal abuse, and any “arguing” should be conducted as a discussion."
The games this week have really tested this portion of our league rules. This is the very first phrase in our rule book.
This week I witnessed on 2 separate occasions where teammates made unsportsman like comments to one another and 1 other incident where 2 opposing players conducted themselves in a manner that was unacceptable on the field. We need this to stop now. We need to remember that we are all brothers in the same organization. We may not always agree with each other, but we will respect each other.
I hope this is the last time I will have to bring this up and we all can get back into what this league stands for. Sportsmanship and camaraderie. We need to remember that this is just a game that we love and enjoy playing.
This also includes umpires, who are volunteers and we all make mistakes. Let's just accept that and move on. Without our volunteer umpires we cannot have a league, and we are quickly running out of those who will volunteer because they dont want to deal with the headaches.
