to Western Mass. News
Chicopee MA– On Friday, May 15 2009, the Westmass Area Development
Corporation Board of Directors voted unanimously to award Ronald J.
Abdow the title of Chairman Emeritus.
This honorary position was created for Mr. Abdow based upon his years
of dedicated service to Westmass and his leadership of regional
economic development efforts. With the completion of his recent term
as Past Chairman, Mr. Abdow accepted the honor, as the first and only
Chairman Emeritus in Westmass’ fifty-year history.
Mr. Abdow has successfully completed terms as Vice Chairman for 4
years, Chairman for 10 years, Past Chairman for 2 years and now will
serve the corporation, for life, as its Chairman Emeritus.
“It is important for the corporation to retain the valuable historic
perspective of its past, said current Chairman Steven Roberts.
Westmass created this position so it would not lose that historic
knowledge, the experience, and the leadership that Ron possesses”.
It is expected that Ron will actively participate in new director
orientation efforts and that he will mentor new incoming directors one
on one.
