Re: budget memo
I appreciate receiving this years FY ’10 budget in a timely manner. I
think that the Mayor and the Financial team put in a lot of time and
effort to ensure that the budget would be completed so that the City
Council can begin there budget hearings.
However, I am somewhat concerned that the budget is based on “numbers”
that were generated from the Governor’s Office. Historically
speaking, the numbers generated by the Governor’s Office are usually
unrealistic and frequently are amended by the House and Senate when
their versions from the budget are completed and passed by their
respective bodies. As evidenced by this years preliminary House
budget which is significantly different than the Governor’s Office
numbers.
Therefore, I would respectfully request that a City budget for FY ’10
be drafted using the recently released numbers(that apply to
Springfield) from the House of Representatives budget.
In addition I would also like to see the City’s revenue projections
for the first quarter of FY ’10.

Thank you for you time and consideration.
