Jimmy Fallon , new host of NBC's "Late Night," replaces Conan O'Brien.

of Weekend Update with Tina Fey. Fallon left SNL in 2004 and began a
film career appearing in the movies Fever Pitch, Almost Famous and
others. He comes to the Calvin Theatre at the top of his game.

Friday, May 8th, 8 pm - Headliner(s): The Fab Faux: From the Cavern to
the Rooftop (Rare 5-Piece Show) - $$75, $45, $35, $25
Formed in 1998 by Jimmy Vivino (from Conan O‚Brien's Max Weinberg 7)
and Will Lee (bassist with Paul Shaffer on David Letterman), The Fab
Faux treat the seminal music of the Beatles with unwavering respect
through painstaking recreations of the songs (with emphasis on the
later works never performed live by the Beatles). Far beyond a cover
band, they play the music of The Beatles so impeccably that one must
experience it to believe it. Calling them, „the greatest Beatles
cover band ˆ without the wigs,‰ Rolling Stone senior editor David
Fricke wrote, „the Faux invigorate the artistry of even the Beatles
‚ most intricate studio masterpieces with top chops and Beatlemaniac
glee.‰ Approaching the songs with the intent of playing them live as
accurately in musical reading and in spirit as possible, The Faux‚s
breathtaking performances tend to dispel all concertgoers‚ previous
notions of a Beatles tribute act.

Friday, May 29th, 8 pm - Headliner(s): The Bangles - $$38.50, $28.50
The Bangles are one of the greatest all-female bands ever. The L.A.-
based quartet inventively incorporated '60s folk rock, sunny SoCal
harmonies and Beatles/Byrds/Beach Boys/Big Star beauty into a sound
all its own - beguiling, frequently bittersweet, but always life-
affirming. Theirs was a rags-to-riches story, from the band's
beginnings in L.A.'s Paisley Underground scene through their reign as
the smart-pop princesses of the 1980s. They've continued to tour on
and off ever since and return to Northampton for the first time since
1985 when they played at Smith College.

includes a second CD with acoustic versions of all the songs. The
songwriting takes center stage on Poseidon, with the duo exploring new
approaches to melody, harmonics, and rhythm.

Friday, June 26th, 8 pm - Headliner(s): Madeleine Peyroux - $$38.50,
$28.50, $23.50
Smoky voiced Madeleine Peyroux‚s earthy new album Bare Bones is an
artistic breakthrough that finds her sublime voice wrapped around a
collection of songs that she helped craft from their inception,
marking her evolution as a songwriter. Peyroux says the album builds
from wariness, to loss, to acceptance, and finally to hope. „I‚m
really happy that I got to write,‰ says Peyroux, „It feels like a new
segment, and it‚s great work. I‚m surrounded by beautiful sounds,
really honest musicians, really honest playing.‰

laughter. For those who say there are no good female comedians, they
have never seen Madigan perform in front of a live audience. A regular
in the clubs, theaters, talk-shows and festivals, Madigan has proven
to be one of the top female comedians out there today. Dubbed by Jay
Leno as „one of America‚s funniest female comics,‰ she is currently
putting her comedic talent to use as a writer, producer, and performer
on Lewis Black‚s „The Root of All Evil,‰ which airs on Comedy
Central. In 2004, Madigan was a season two contestant on NBC‚s „Last
Comic Standing,‰ and in 2007 was a talent scout during the show‚s
fifth season. Other television appearances by her include stints on
E!, CNN‚s „Not Just Another News Show,‰ SoapNet, A&E, Lifetime, and
Style TV, as well as regular appearances on „The Tonight Show with Jay
Leno.‰ Madigan‚s infectious presence is not only limited to
television. Madigan hosted her own show on Sirius Satellite Radio‚s

The Cliks make the girls˜and boys˜swoon. They‚re compared to The
Pretenders and Joan Jett and have a primal power and unguarded
emotionality that will take your breath away. Lucas Silveira (trans-
frontman) may think of The Cliks as a "little band from Toronto" but

With her latest album Shotgun Singer, she has unveiled a series of

Iron & Wine, and Juana Molina.

not very much, and remained under the radar of just about everybody.

Will Oldham is known for his "do-it-yourself punk aesthetic and blunt
honesty, and his music has been likened to Americana, folk, roots,
country, punk, and indie rock, although Oldham is dissatisfied with
these labels: "I don't think it's roots music, though it's definitely
influenced by Western popular music." He has been called an
"Appalachian post-punk solipsist" and is notable for his unique voice,
which has been described as "a fragile sort-of warble frittering
around haunted melodies in the American folk or country tradition."

York. Soon he was discovered, had the opportunity to play with Benny

Saturday, May 23rd, 10 pm - Headliner(s): Momus Support: Melissa St.
Pierre - $15
If U.K. authors Evelyn Waugh or Kingsley Amis had ever decided to make
music, then perhaps the result might've sounded like Momus:
articulate, chaotically baroque carnival music that revels in its
oddity. Momus (nee Nick Currie) is a Scottish-born singer, songwriter,
and provocateur whose music has been careening from acoustic ballads
to electro-pop to acid house and back again since the early 80s, when
he recorded for iconic post-punk labels like 4AD, Creation, and Cherry
Red. He has survived and undfolded in ever less predictable ways over
the years. This is one of only four US dates.

Saturday, June 27th, 7 pm - Headliner(s): Robbie Fulks - $17
Forget the labels... "Insurgent," "Retro," "Alternative," ... and
focus instead on the music. Some might try to copy old music, but
ROBBIE FULKS knows it, loves it, and brings its spirit, its humor, and
its otherworldliness to his own work. He's the man who famously gave
Nashville the middle-finger salute-in-song and then devoted an entire
album to rare and obscure country songs that almost no one in latter-
day Nashville had even heard. And while most current country music is
calculated to form an inoffensive backdrop to the suburban shopping
experience, Robbie Fulks writes songs that make you think and feel and
quite often laugh outloud.

Friday, July 10th, 7 pm - Headliner(s): Albert Cummings - $17

own musical edifice that expresses his thoughts and dreams. It is a
vision that alternately excites and soothes while also clearly
providing a glimpse of his unlimited future. The best is yet to come.

out chords and reveling in the unmitigated pleasure of making a
beautiful noise.

imbued with the passion and soul of such West Side masters as Magic
Sam, Otis Rush, Buddy Guy and Earl Hooker, Ronnie Earl caresses the
strings with utmost sensitivity one moment, alternately following it
by a cluster of hard-edged riffs. The calm is shattered, but the
impact is riveting. No guitarist in recent memory has plied his
instrument with such unerring instinct in channeling his inner
emotional state, as has Earl. "He is one of the most serious blues
guitarists you can find today. He makes me proud.!" - B.B. King

lyricism and cascading, horn-like lines, Rosenwinkel has, over the
course of four brilliant recordings for Verve (2000‚s The Enemies of
Energy, 2001‚s The Next Step, 2003‚s Heartcore, and 2005's Deep Song),

Party with DJs from Electric Avenue and Dance or Die. The area's only
18+ Electro, Indie, and 80s party! - $13

Saturday, May 2nd, 9 pm - Headliner(s): Electric Six Support: Living
Things Support: The Young Flyers - $18
Detroit's Electric Six dares you to take them seriously. They churn
out overblown rock and/or dance songs that revel in excess and
cliche. But, like Tenacious D, Spinal Tap, and the Dictators, though
their music IS tongue and cheek, their songs are as good or better
than bands that play it straight. "Flashy" is album number FIVE for
these guys, and its a confident reassurance that Dick Valentine is a
long way off from running out of ideas.

Tuesday, May 5th, 8:30 pm - Headliner(s): The Thermals Support: The
Shaky Hands Support: Point Juncture, WA - $14
The Thermals are a three-piece alternative/indie/punk band born in
Portland, Oregon in 2002. They've been cranking out three-minute, no-
fi sonic gems and catchy anthems with a neo-grunge attitude. Formerly
on Sub Pop. their new album, Now We Can See, is on Kill Rock Stars.

'Em Hell Support: AM Transit Support: Maker Support: The Conceited
