Longtime Democratic Party stalwart E. HENRY TWIGGS will formally
announce his candidacy for the Springfield City Council this Friday,
May 8. The campaign kick-off will be held at Springfield’s Family
Kitchen Restaurant on19 St. James Avenue. The event begins at 5:00PM.

Twiggs will be joined at this Friday’s announcement by some key
supporters of his bid for the Ward 4 City Co uncil seat. LT. GOVERNOR
TIM MURRAY will be on hand to urge voters to elect Twiggs based on his
extensive political experience, proven skills and dedication to the
community.

Others slated to speak in support of Twiggs include: former State
Representative RAYMOND JORDAN, Vice Chairman of the Massachusetts
Democratic Party; current State Representative BENJAMIN SWAN; award
winning activist DR. RUTH B. LOVING, widely regarded as “the mother of
the civil rights movement” in Springfield; and ARCHBISHOP TIMOTHY
PAUL.

Twiggs is the Chairman of the Springfield Democratic City Committee
and the Ward 4 Democratic Committee and a member of the State
Democratic Committee. He was also actively involved in the campaign to
return ward representation to Springfield.

Twiggs will discuss the reasons for his candidacy, which marks his
first campaign for any elected municipal office.
