Subject: No One Remembers Alone: a thank you note and an invitation
From: Patricia Klindienst <ep...@me.com>
Date: Tue, 15 Oct 2013

First, I send a huge thank you to fellow members of the international JewishGen community who have generously offered their help translating and interpreting scores of documents and images for me as I traced the migration narrative of an entire family of Russian Jews:  the family founded by Abram Spiwak of Bessarabia and Sophia Schochetman of Odessa, who met and fell in love in Odessa in 1905, just before they were separated by the failed revolution. They were reunited a year and a half later on the Lower East Side of New York City, and soon began to bring their families out of Russia.  Some went to Argentina, some made it to America, and others were never able to get out and perished in the Holocaust. This family's story echoes the stories of countless other Eastern European Jews.

Two hundred volunteers from sixteen countries have responded to my postings on four different SIG lists in the past six years as I tracked this family across three continents.  Thank you all!  I could not have done this without you.

Now I invite you all to my exhibit based on this family's story, which you have helped me tell.

"No One Remembers Alone:  Memory, Migration, and the Making of an American Family" opens at the national Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, Massachusetts on Sunday, November 10th at 1 pm and runs through March 2014.

The opening includes a talk and reception. The event is free and open to the public.

You can read about the exhibit here:  www.pklindienst.com/NoOneRemembersAlone
and also here:  https://www.facebook.com/PKlindienst

You are welcome to leave comments and questions.

You can find information about the Yiddish Book Center on either of these sites. Or here:

Thank you!  If you decide to come, please be sure to introduce yourself to me.

Grateful to be part of such an extraordinary community,

Patricia Klindienst
