Dear supporter of the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra
We are beyond excited to announce that we are once more bringing to you Handel's Messiah like you might never have heard it before! Following our reconstruction of the first 1742 Dublin performance at the end of last year, we will present the work again on 28 and 30 November 2024 in Cape Town and Hermanus, this time featuring several of the alternative (and not often heard) versions of arias and choruses.
Like last year, CTBO will be joined on stage be the vocal forces of Lutesong Consort, who will sing both the chorus and soloist parts. The singers are sopranos Lynelle Kenned (soloist), Elsabé Richter (soloist), Louise Howlett (soloist); altos Lente Louw (soloist), Nick de Jager, Vasti Zeeman-Knoesen; tenors Sandile Mabaso (soloist), Levi Alexander, Christiaan Bell; and basses Conroy Scott (soloist), Keaton Manwaring, Luvo Rasmeni. What's more, the orchestra of period instrument will feature - over and above our usual setup - natural trumpet, baroque oboe, and calfskin baroque timpani.
These unique and historically informed performances are not to be missed! For more information and to secure your tickets, please click on the links below.
