Dear Friends and Patrons
For Via Crucis we are joined by a wonderful team of singers: Lynelle Kenned and Elsabé Richter (sopranos), Lente Louw (alto), Van Wyk Venter and Willem Bester (tenors), and Keaton Manwaring (bass). Together we look forward to sharing this remarkable programme of luminous Renaissance polyphony with you.
Here is a reminder of the details:

The Passion Story in Motets
In
Via Crucis, Lutesong Consort traces the path of Christ’s final week through twelve Renaissance motets, sung one-to-a-part in the ensemble’s signature transparent, text-driven style. The programme unfolds as a musical pilgrimage, moving from the raising of Lazarus through the entry into Jerusalem, the Mount of Olives, the Last Supper, the betrayal by Judas, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Cross and the silence of the tomb, before culminating in the Resurrection. With works by Tye, Lasso, Victoria, Schein, Hammerschmidt, Gesualdo, Monteverdi and Bach,
Via Crucis reveals the Passion story in luminous polyphony — austere yet radiant, intimate and profoundly human.
