FYI the Summer Sizzler promotion email has just gone out. Entry for club members is also via RiderHQ

Dear Rider,

Westerley Summer Sizzler + other events (Hillingdon TTs, virtual racing, club rides, Winter Warmer )

Our club sportive, the Summer Sizzler, is running again. It is on Sunday 14th September - starting from the main car park in Chalfont St Peter and finishing at a pub nearby.

As last year, entry is free, but we are limited to 200 riders.

Once again there are three versions - 160km / 100km / 60km. The 100km is based on the classic hard, but enjoyable, Sizzler route from 2013, with a couple of tweaks - mainly as a result of HS2 works. The 160km adds an additional, and especially challenging, loop out via the Hambledon Valley and Wallingford, which makes it a tough ride. The 60km is an out and back to Princes Risborough, taking in Kop Hill.

The 160km version in particular is a pretty demanding ride with a large number of climbs. This is what one of the top Westerley riders, who had also done Liege-Bastogne-Liege a few months earlier said about it last year:

"It was a tough day out, lots of small wooded lanes with lots of concentration on the road surface needed. I think not all LBL riders would have survived the day on the Summer Sizzler roads. The numbers were similar LBL: 159.91km / 2,599m vs Sizzler 163.92km / 2,363m. I really enjoyed both, although they were quite different. I felt more tired in the last 30 miles of the Sizzler than LBL. I think it is the intensity of the climbs."

Other events

Virtual racing - we have a successful virtual racing team taking part in, and organising, regular TTT competitions and race series throughout the year, where we compete with teams from around the world, from the comfort of our sheds, garages and living rooms.

Club rides, every Sunday, at a spirited pace, usually 8:30am from Costa in Greenford

Hillingdon TTs have had another successful season with many new PBs being set. The final round is on Wednesday 27th August

The Winter Warmer is pencilled in for Sunday 11th January 2026
