Dear all,
For those of you who Zwift or are thinking of using it, I have created a Westerley CC Club where we can chat and put some events/rides/social rides on etc. The link below should take you to the club joining page.
This is just a try out to see if there is any interest and for feedback about what rides, races or challenges people may like to have. On a group ride I believe we can set a boundary fence ( I haven’t tried this yet so might get it wrong initially) so that all riders stay together even if they are cycling faster or slower, so we can still enjoy riding as a group.
Please give any feedback. I’m aware Zwift is a paid program but I find it really useful for winter and for hill training and VTTA Zwift TT races plus the fun of Fondos and who doesn’t like badge/jersey hunting?!

Hi Lorna

This is all great stuff, we currently have a TT team and a series of races on IndieVelo, that has been going on for a few years now. We moved to IndieVelo from RGT when it closed, the plus for IndieVelo is that it's free for all, we currently have a club login and are signed up to the members club. All of what Zwift has to offer on rubber banding on group rides is currently on offer with them. They have lots of races and other rides all week.

I'm not saying we shouldn't give it a try but it's not for me as I only use the turbo in a social sense to do our series or the TTT over the winter.

Thanks

Ian Mc

Hi,

Thanks Lorna. All this is true, but it’s great to have another option if people want to give it a go and are on Zwift

Let’s try it out and see!

Cheers

Andy

Thx for the input Ian.
All welcomed. We discussed just having the extra option for anyone using zwift & not indie velo at the last committee mtg so I just set it up. People can just also use it to have a 2up ride or training ride or whatever when ever they like.
Personally I much prefer it.

Hi Lorna,
Thank you for doing this.
I followed the link - Its 'invite only' , I'm Andrew Halliday (Peta_Z) please send me an invite Thank you.
The 'Fence' on Zwift can be set as 'hot' so if you go say 'xx' seconds ahead of the fence it kicks you off the ride (to stop fliers) . I think fence can be cold but then its only a visual mobile gate.
For club rides the 'rubber band' mode is excellent , as long as any rider pedals you stay together, so any power riders  stay together.
I think ride leader can switch fence on/off/hot/cold on the fly, Ride leader gets a beacon above them, rides don't have to have a leader.
Hope something in that is of help, Forgive me if you knew these already.
I'm a fan of Zwift , I did try indie velo .
Thank you,
Andy.
