Dear Rider,

We've just done the final route checks toaday ahead of next week's event.  There are a few roadworks around which have led to one or two minor route changes.  The roads look OK on the whole although there are some areas of poor surface, potholes, and gravel on some of the lanes, so care is needed, especially when descending at speed.
Areas we felt merited particular care include:
 - 38km on long route, Shogmore Lane (steep / gravel)
 - 47km on long route, Lower Assington (gravel / potholes)
 - 53km on long route, turn into Rocky Lane (gravel, slippery)
 - 131km, on long route / 77km on medium route, Dunsmore (gravel / potholes)
 - 25km on short route, Speen (sharp bend on descent, rough surface before)

The weather forecast looks pleasant if not exactly sizzling, at 15-18 degrees

Long

Start / Finish

The start for all routes will be in the Church Lane car park at Chalfont St Peter.  Post code is  SL9 9RS.  We will be at the back, near the river.  Start times are:
 - Long route - 8:00-8:30am
 - Medium route - 8:30-9:00am
 - Short route - 9:00-9:15am
We may need to start people in smaller groups to prevent large pelotons forming.

The finish will be in the Greyhound pub, just round the corner from the car park (a couple of minutes walk), on the High St where it meets the roundabout on the A413.  Post code is SL9 9RA. We will have a table somewhere in the pub for you to check in.  The finish will be open from midday-7pm (if you think you will arrive before midday please mention this at the start). The pub serves food until 5pm and drinks all day.

Cafes / shops / toilets

Near the start
Costa is nearby and will be open from 7am
There are public toilets a few minutes walk from the car park

Long route
The obvious place to stop around half way is Watlington (82km). If you are in a hurry there ia a Co-op.  The Spire and Spoke on the way out of the town serves good pizza and is bike-friendly, and there is another cafe in the centre of the town.
There are also cafes and shops in Marlow, Stoke Row, Chinnor (see below) and Chesham

Medium route
Chinnor (55km) is the obvious place to stop.  There is the Village Centre cafe, and also a bakery and a shop.  Also cafes and shops at Marlow Stoke Row and Chesham

Short route
The best stopping options are:
- The village shop / cafe at Speen (24km)
- Cafe 51 at Prestwood (40km)

We look forward to seeing you next Sunday,
