Good morning everyone! Happy New Year to all!
We are looking for a good place to source emergency fire pumps, ballast pumps, fuel transfer etc… We have on board shaft driven pumps, however, the shafts seems to always waste away because of the salt water exposure.
2 questions:
Is there a better “coupling” style pump that would be work better?
A good vendor that is not going to beat us up on price for both style pumps (Texas or Louisiana area)?
Everything is 3phase and in the 40 – 60hp range.
Actually a 3rd question, is there a armature shop in Texas that works on smaller <50 hp motors?
Many thanks!!

Hi Trevor,
I know Sims pumps makes some extremely resistant complete pumps, shafts, and impellers. We typically don’t use them because they are expensive, but if we had specific pumps that were problematic, they would be my solution.

For our typical use we buy from Mike Reynolds at Brownlee Morrow in Alabama (our vessels are generally built and serviced at our shipyard in Pascagoula). Our pumps are usually Viking (fuel), MP flowmax (bilge, ballast, fire), but are only up to 15 HP. We’re looking at Griswold pumps (through Brownlee Morrow) for new construction bilge pumps because they have better self-priming performance.

In our Ingleside division, we use Bradley’s for motor (and generator) rewind and repair, probably because they are just down the street.
