SB Skiff Fest

Hi all,

It was very exciting to see so many boats on the line sailing at such a high level last weekend!! Thanks to everyone who was involved in this event, and who has been involved in developing the fleet in the last few years! The support group for the younger teams and the culture that has been developed within the fleet is definitely the strongest of any fleet that I've ever been involved in, and I think it has a lot to do with the fantastic results we've seen on the international level!

May 19 and 20 will be the Santa Barbara Skiff Fest, and as the Junior Director at SBYSF, we're really looking forwards to having everyone in town!  Friday, May 18th I will be coaching a practice beginning at 2:30 for any sailors who are available to come up for the afternoon.  If you would like me to go over rigging or anything else on shore please plan on being rigged and ready as close to 2:30 as possible.  If you can't make it until later, feel free to come out and join us on the water!  Friday night if there is enough interest I will hold a "chalk talk" from 6:00ish to 7:00ish where we will review some strategy and tactics as well as how to "sail like a veteran tomorrow" (inspired by Luther Carpenter's, "Sail Like a Veteran Today").  Please RSVP to practice or the chalk talk by responding to this e mail.  Finally, if you will be sailing Skiff Fest, be sure to review the video debrief from Hamlin #1, in which I talked about managing the lay lines in Santa Barbara.
