29er sailors,

I'm writing to announce the Midwinters West Clinic March 26-27th (Thursday-Friday) at Coronado Yacht Club. Coaches Jon Rogers and Jen Morgan Glass will be running the clinic ready to help you improve all the way around the racecourse. The clinic will run all day Thursday and 1/2 day Friday, followed by MWW racing Friday afternoon through Sunday. This is a great way to get ready for the season's sailing! The top teams will be there, and we've got great coaches to help improve your sailing. Don't miss out!

Attention 29er Girls: During the clinic we'll have girls-only briefs, debriefs, a girls-only dinner, and more. We've got some great girls 29er teams and here's an opportunity to work closely together as a group for a few days. We'll sail against the boys on the water so we all have the most competition possible.

**You'll notice there is no cost currently set for the clinic. We're working to find funding to cover the cost and provide the clinic free to sailors. We'll resolve the finances soon and let you know for sure.

To RSVP and for more information please email Jen at j...@skiffsailing.org.**

I would like to attend this event. How come the start is on friday?
Do a lot of people have school off or something?

Judge,

Thanks for the note and sorry for the delay in response.
We plan to start the races about 2PM on Friday afternoon.
Some have expressed reservations because of school but mostly
responses have been supportive.
We do hope it fits your schedule.

Hi Jon:

It looks like we will be in town now to do the 29er Mid-Winters. I see Judge asked about sailing on Friday. Why are promoting skipping school to sail on a school day? Is there some reason why the Mid-Winters got moved from a 2 day event to 3 days? With things like CISA, qualifiers and other regattas, we have a hard time justifying pulling the kids from school any more than we have to. Are you saying that most of the competitors want a 3 day regatta.

Tom

Thanks for the note.
I'm glad the dialogue is going on now and not right before the event.
I thought that a 3-day event providing more races would be attractive
to people coming from further distances. Better race to travel ratio
and insurance in case we get a dud day on Sat or Sun.

Happy to keep getting input.

What teams do you have coming? Will there be a good turn out?

Perhaps you should see if a two day event would result in a greater
turnout for the good of the fleet vs a three day with less attending.
