This Week – Fourth Anniversary Party!
=====================================================
In an exclusive interview we did with co-founder and host of WJJ
Dennis Winge, he said “I am so grateful to have the opportunity to
make acquaintance with so many musicians in Westchester over the last
few years. It’s funny but when we first moved up here I was commuting
to the city pretty much every day, and I just assumed for the first
year & a half that there were hardly any musicians in Westchester!
Finally someone told me about the Tuesday blues jam at Jackson &
Wheeler, and the rest is history… but I have had such a blast running
this thing. It combines 2 of my favorite things to do: play jazz and
have parties.”
By popular demand, we are going to feature the Spacious Quartet for
the party’s first set, featuring:
Sean Nowell – tenor sax
Peter Brendler – double bass
Jon Doty – drums & cymbals
Dennis Winge – guitar & compositions
As you may remember, this group debuted in June of this year at
Ruben’s, and those who heard the group are still asking when they
might have an opportunity to do so again. We hope you will join us
this week to celebrate our anniversary!

[Westchester] county after the loss of several local music sites. At

city.’”

Jokes of the Week

We received these jokes from George Benson via Judi Schlessinger –
thanks Judi & George!
Chick Corea claims to have heard about a hostage situation where some
terrorists were holding thirty drummers hostage, and were
threatening to release one of them every six hours until their demands
were met.

A guitarist sat tuning his instrument all through the first set that
the band played. Each time the leader pointed to him to take a
chorus, he would Say, "No, man, I'm still tuning up."
Half an hour into the job he was still not ready. "Why do you need so
much time for tuning?" asked the leader. "When I went to hear Segovia
he played a whole concert and I didn't see him tune up once!'
The guitar player gave a shrug. "Some cats just don't give a damn,
man!"
