Minority Rights Seva Foundation Women’s Empowerment Project (Pakistan): $1500
The Small Business Skills Center empowers isolated poor rural women living near Rawalpindi by offering them basic vocational education and small business skills classes. This center has been threatened by Pakistan's religious extremists. This grant of $1,500 will help protect the Center from religious extremists through the purchase and installation of a security system and cameras.
Om Welfare Dharmic Studies Project (Pakistan): $250
The small Hindu minority in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is primarily poor with little education. Many Hindu parents do not send their children to schools and lack the resources to teach them about Hinduism. For $250 a year, the Om Welfare Foundation will provide free Dharmic studies courses and materials to Hindu families in the cities of Nowshera, Peshawar, and Hangu.
Bhutan Human Rights Monitoring Center (Bhutan): $1200
After the ethnic cleansing of more than 100,000 mostly Hindu Bhutanese of Nepali descent from Bhutan, those Hindus remaining in the country continue to face restrictions on their religious, cultural, and linguistic rights. This grant project of $1200 will help establish and maintain a human rights monitoring center on the Indo-Bhutan border and support the collection of on-the-ground information directly from sources within Bhutan.
