Osborne Bridge during its rehabilitation
The Winnipeg Police Service ticketed cyclists riding on the sidewalk on Osborne Bridge on May 10, and you are probably aware of transportation problems around the bridge.
Our website has lots to read about this, including our suggestions about what should be done for cycling during the construction: biketothefuture.org
This annual event challenges workplaces in a friendly competition to find active and green ways to commute to work. Individuals can walk, bike, take a bus, or carpool, and increase their physical activity while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The City's Operating Budget has an item for maintenance of existing multi-use pathways. Specific repairs and spot improvements are prioritized by the City's Active Transportation Advisory Committee (ATAC).
Manitoba Public Insurance has begun public consultations on the role it should play as a public auto insurer in promoting and ensuring road safety. BttF thinks MPI has an important role to play in improving road safety for cyclists.
There is a survey on MPI's website that asks for feedback. Some questions ask whether MPI should be investing in safe cycling. We ask that you fill out the survey. ____________________________
Bicycle Valet Winnipeg has been contracted to provide services at Red River Exhibition Park on both Saturdays of the Ex (June 18 and 25), and is looking for volunteers to staff the bicycle valet at two locations: Kapyong Barracks (Park & Ride location) and Red River Exhibition Park. There will be a shuttle back and forth, so if you are volunteering at Red River Exhibition Park, you may park your bicycle at the Park & Ride location. Kidsfest
Bicycle Valet Winnipeg has been contracted to provide services for Kidsfest at The Forks from Thursday June 9 to Sunday June 12, including Kidstock on Saturday from 5:00 to 10:00 PM, and is looking for volunteers to staff the bicycle valet.
