Tuesdays and Fridays beginning August 5th through the 29th.

In addition to dance classes, a Cuban percussion / drum class is offered from 7:30 to 8:30 Tuesdays and Fridays.

Yoruba and Guaguanco series with Noemi Pinate
Our Yoruba and Guaguanco Dance instructor is Noemi Pinate, a professionally-trained Escuela de Musica y Artes de Havana former Tropicana dancer who performed in extravagant Las Vegas-style shows around the world before leaving Cuba. Now living in Texas, Noemi is eager to share her love of Cuba's music and dance with Austin.
 
Ladies are requested to wear a long flowing skirt and comfortable shoes such as jazz sneakers, flat dance shoes, or even tennis shoes.
 
Men, a bandana is required, and comfortable shoes.

Dance class menu - Your choice (Please arrive early to register, cash preferred thanks.):
             $120 - 4 weeks (12 hours - 10.00/hr)
              $70 - 2 weeks (6 hours - 11.66/hr)
              $22 - 1 class (1.5 hr - 14.70/hr)
              $65 - Private 50 minute lesson by appointment
              
When: Tuesdays and Fridays beginning August 5th through the 29th. Percussion class is 6:30-7:30. Dance class is 7:30-9pm.

The progression of dance material is cumulative, building from ground zero.
 
Why: To learn an authentic Cuban percussion/drumming and dance with friends and welcome Noemi and DJ Omar to Texas.

About our percussion instructor: Mark Word is a multi-talented percussionist and Latin percussion enthusiast playing regularly in Germany and Killeen, TX
First professional job: Nevada Opera Company at age 13.
Professional studio musician in San Francisco/Oakland; Eddy Money Band, Oakland, California.
Big Band drummer and percussionist: Reno Jazz Festival Host Big Band (4 years); MGM Orchestra, Reno, NV; and more recently -- Big Band on Rio Grande, Las Cruces,NM; Mike Caranda Band, El Paso;
Classes will be reasonably priced. Tuesday/Friday from 6:60-7:30 in August. See below for more detail.
