City of Trenton Declares Code Blue Alert for Extreme Cold January 16 – 20, 2026

Reed Gusciora Press Release January 16, 2026 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   City of Trenton Opens Code Blue Warming Centers Due to Low Temperatures Trenton, N.J. – The City of Trenton Department of Health and Human Services is announcing the opening of Code Blue Warming Centers for the next five days in response to the forecasted low temperatures. Residents in need of a safe, warm place are encouraged to visit the centers during the scheduled hours. Warming Center Locations and Hours: Sam Naples Senior Center, 611 Chestnut Ave, Trenton, NJ 08611 Dates & Hours: January 16, 2026: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM January 17, 2026: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM Sam Naples Senior Center contact number: 609-989-3462 Jennye Stubblefield Senior Center, 301 Prospect Street, Trenton, NJ 08611 Dates & Hours: January 18, 2026: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM January 19, 2026: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM January 20, 2026: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM Jennye Stubblefield Senior Center contact number: 609-989-3463 The City urges all residents to take advantage of these warming centers to stay safe during the extreme cold. For additional information, residents may contact the centers directly at the numbers listed above. A Code Blue Alert is issued when temperatures drop below freezing, posing a significant risk to the safety of the homeless population. Residents are encouraged to report individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness during severe weather conditions by contacting the Trenton Police Department at 609-989-4000. Additionally, the Rescue Mission of Trenton, located at 89 Ewing Street, is a designated Code Blue shelter for Mercer County. During a Code Blue Alert, the Rescue Mission is open 24 hours a day. Under normal conditions, the shelter is open from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. daily. For more information, please call 609-695-1436.
