The High School Aerospace Scholars team is excited to launch the newest addition to our online offerings-
Middle School Math with High School Aerospace Scholars! This new online course will allow educators to easily access NASA lessons and activities that target frequently missed skills on the 6-8 grade Math STAAR tests. Teachers will have the opportunity
to choose from nine curated lessons to engage students in hands-on discovery, build mathematical thinking skills, and review commonly missed TEKS prior to STAAR testing in April 2025. Teachers are encouraged to incorporate these 45–90-minute lessons into their
existing math, science, or engineering classroom instruction.
Texas educators who complete one or more of the provided lessons and submit the corresponding deliverables will be eligible to receive a
school visit from the HAS team or NASA Mobile Exhibit Trailer with an extension activity between March and June of 2025.
Note: This middle school math course is written for Texas educators working with grades 6-8 but is available to all U.S. educators. Some opportunities within the course, including school visits and extension activities, are limited to Texas educators only.
Applications for Middle School Math opened on January 17, 2025.
The course itself will open on February 3, 2025. Once the course has opened, educators will receive an email from
notifi...@instructure.com containing instructions on how to access their
account in Canvas. After February 3, course enrollment will be rolling on a weekly basis. After this date, if you do not receive access within a week, email the HAS team at
jsc...@mail.nasa.gov.
If you have questions about this course or the application process, please email the HAS team at
jsc...@mail.nasa.gov.
