The West Texas Energy Summit is a teacher professional development for 7th - 12th grade STEM teachers in the Permian Basin and is being led by UT Austin's Hildebrand Dept of Petroleum and Geosystem Engineering's Outreach Team. *Teachers from Midland/Odessa receive priority consideration.


The West Texas Energy Summit is sponsored by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)- Permian Basin and Diamondback Energy.


The workshop includes standards-aligned, hands-on classroom resources focused on oil and gas and energy production. In addition, industry field visits provide teachers with a firsthand look at the engineering and technology utilized in the energy sector. Teachers will learn about the various career opportunities available within the industry.


📅 Workshop Dates and Times:       

    Wed. June 17th - 8am - 5pm       

    Thurs. June 18th - 8am - 4pm      


🍽️ MealsAll meals and snacks for both days are provided.


📚 CPE HoursUpon completion of the workshop, teachers will receive 17 CPE hours. *UT Austin is an approved TEA Provider.
