Women in STEM (WiSTEM) at UT Austin on-campus summer camps and virtual academies provide rising 10th through 12th-grade high school students with the opportunity to explore STEM college majors and career paths, gain hands-on STEM experiences and STEM career skills, connect with STEM role models, and learn about university resources and the admissions process.

 

All students are invited to weekly Role Model Monday Webinars with STEM professionals throughout June and July. All students and families are invited to a virtual end-of-camp celebration and admissions presentation at the end of July.

 

All WiSTEM camp and academy experiences are designed and facilitated with effective practices to recruit and engage girls in STEM. Camp and academy experiences feature STEM role models from our WiSTEM campus and corporate community and content from partners such as PBS SciGirls.

 

All rising 10th through 12th-grade high school students are welcome and invited to register for any camp or academy that best fits their interests. All WiSTEM camps and academies are open to any current high school student of any gender enrolled in the 9th, 10th, or 11th grade at the time of registration.

 

 

WiSTEM Consider Every Option (CEO) Day Camps

 

Consider Every Option (CEO) Day Camps are in-person, on-campus, single-day or two-day, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. CT experiences for rising 10th through 12th-grade high school students interested in exploring interested in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM). CEO Day Camps are designed for participants to Consider Every Option (CEO) and explore cross-sections of STEM disciplines and college majors with similar or overlapping career paths. Each camp includes an optional campus tour from 8:15 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. with a unique combination of hands-on design challenges, a Career Conversation Lunch with STEM role models, presentations or panels, research lab or museum tours, and other carefully crafted, theme-aligned STEM experiences. Students will learn about STEM majors offered at UT Austin and connect with STEM college students, faculty, and industry professional role models.

 

Spots are limited for each camp, so early registration is encouraged. Capacity is capped at 30 students per camp. All genders are welcome.

2025 CEO Camp Themes, Adventures, and Dates:


CEO: STEM in Art & Sound (1-Day Camp: Thursday, June 5, 2025) – $200
Explore the intersection of creativity and technology! This one-day camp dives into sound engineering and art science, giving you a hands-on STEM experience exploring the future of media and arts, giving you hands-on experience using STEM to shape the future of media and arts. Schedule permitting, tours, presentations, and activities feature campus partners such as the Blanton Museum of Art, the Landmarks public art program, and the UT Austin chapter of the Acoustical Society of America.

 

CEO: STEM in Medical Technology (Offered Twice, Repeated 1-Day Camp: Thursday, June 12, 2025, and Thursday, July 10, 2025) – $200
Step into the future of healthcare! This camp offers an exciting look at cutting-edge innovations transforming medical technologies, from wearable devices and advanced diagnostics to robotics and medical delivery systems. Discover how STEM is revolutionizing patient care and driving medical innovation. This day camp is offered twice, once in June and again in July. Schedule permitting, tours, presentations, and activities feature campus and corporate partners such as Hologic, the UT Austin Neuromuscular Biomechanics Lab in the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering, and the UT Austin Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience lab in the Psychology Department.

 

CEO: STEM in Entrepreneurship (1-Day Camp: Tuesday, June 17, 2025) – $200
Turn your ideas into reality! In this camp, you’ll learn the fundamentals of STEM entrepreneurship, focusing on how to iterate and refine your ideas. Discover how technology and innovation drive successful startups while gaining hands-on experience in pitching and marketing your designs to bring your ideas to life. Schedule permitting, tours, presentations, and activities feature campus partners such as the Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (KS WELI) at The University of Texas at Austin and the UT Austin Cockrell School of Engineering Texas Inventionworks.

 

CEO: STEM in Sky & Space (1-Day Camp: Thursday, July 17, 2025) – $200
Aim high with our one-day camp! Dive into the thrilling world of aerospace and astronomy, where you’ll discover the night sky and the science of flight, space exploration, and the future of interstellar travel. Schedule permitting, tours, presentations, and activities feature campus and corporate partners such as the Hill Country Alliance Night Skies program and the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at The University of Texas at Austin.

 

CEO: STEM in Robotics, High Tech & Semiconductors (Offered Twice, Repeated 2-Day Camp: Tuesday, June 10 – Wednesday, June 11, 2025, and Tuesday, July 8, 2025 - Wednesday, July 9, 2025) – $350
Dive into the cutting-edge world of technology! In this two-part day camp, you’ll explore the fundamentals of robotics, high-tech innovations, and the booming semiconductor industry. Gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art technology and learn how these interconnected fields are shaping the future of everything from advanced electronics to automation. This two-part day camp is offered twice, once in June and again in July. Schedule permitting, tours, presentations, and activities feature campus and corporate partners such as Applied Materials, CrowdStrike, Samsung, Texas Robotics, and the Texas Advanced Computing Center Visualization Lab.

 

CEO: STEM in Sustainable Communities & Energy (2-Day Camp: Tuesday, July 15 - Wednesday, July 16, 2025) – $350
Start your journey toward a greener future! In this two-part day camp, delve into the basics of sustainable communities and energy solutions. Discover innovative technologies, materials, and strategies for creating eco-friendly solutions and learn how STEM drives sustainable progress. Schedule permitting, tours, presentations, and activities feature campus and corporate partners such as Shell, the UT Austin Freshman Research Initiative Urban Ecosystem Stream, the UT Austin Office of Sustainability, the Energy Science & Technology Institute in the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering, and the Webber Energy Group in the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering.

 

 

WiSTEM Virtual Academies

 

Summer Engineering Experience (SEE) is a 2-month virtual camp experience for rising 10th through 12th-grade high school students. Designed to explore each engineering major offered at UT Austin with weekly informational newsletters, role model webinars, and engineering design challenges completed and explored asynchronously at your own pace. Participants spend 2-4 hours weekly on asynchronous camp activities.

Summer STEM Learning Academy (SLA) is a 2-month virtual camp experience for rising 10th through 12th-grade high school students. Designed to explore STEM professional skills, including mindfulness in design, design thinking, presentation skills, and more. Camp includes weekly informational newsletters, role model webinars, and the opportunity to earn digital badges at your own pace asynchronously. Participants spend 2-4 hours weekly on asynchronous camp activities.
