Dear President Swett, Vice-President Bennett, and other distinguished Members of the Board of Education,

                                            

On behalf of the West High Alliance (WHA), a group of parents, students, graduates and citizens associated with West High School, we are writing in order to

1)      Thank the Board of Education (BOE) for its reply to the request from the West High School Community Council (SCC) that the Board overrule the involuntary and inappropriate transfer of Physics teacher Daniel McGuire from West High School;

2)      Alert the Board to ongoing deficiencies in the teaching of Physics at West, and provide documentation of these deficiencies; and

3)      Encourage the Board to expedite as much as possible the ongoing grievance process for the involuntary transfer. …
