Hi guys and gals,

Consider this internship program and see if you might find this helpful (after your finals). I explained this in a sermon I preached a few weeks ago in Chicago: http://westloop-church.org/media-center/video/latest/west-loop-mentorship-proposal-qfollow-meq-jn-21

Mentorship/Internship Program

March 2013

What is the Internship program?

A program whose goal is to help each person to discover their own life goals and calling in Christ in the context of Christian community. Remember A B C D.

What is the time commitment?

Each program will be designed with flexibility based on applicant’s/mentor’s availability and area(s) of interest.

What are the prerequisites for the Internship?

  1. Write a One Page Personal Narrative documenting your journey of faith.

  2. Complete the Culture Index Survey to consider and discover the way God wired each person, and review the results with Dr. Ben to personally tailor the program.

What are the basic requirements?

  1. Write how you would financially support yourself and your (future) family.

  2. Write what you perceive God’s will for you is at present and in the coming years.

  3. Maintain regular Bible study with a mentor(s) to understand Basic Christianity.

  4. Keep a weekly journal to document experiences, events and reflections.

  5. Meet your mentor weekly to review goals/prayer requests/journal/questions.

  6. Create 3rd Spaces/Safe Places for outsiders to come as themselves (without pretense).

  7. Spend at least 10 hours of fieldwork connected to your selected area of interest.

Completion of the Program:

Share a presentation to West Loop based on your experience – what you learned, and what we can learn and pray for future direction.

All materials used, referenced, read and studied should be documented and maintained in a file for future reference for the intern/mentoree and future interns/mentorees.

Hi Rhoel, there are over a dozen personal narratives on our West Loop Cohort page that I set up in June 2012. You did join as a member. I am now trying to resurrect it. Are you able to assess the site?

Thank God who blessed your finals. Continue to ponder these questions:
  1. What is your goal in life? (Consider Paul's goals in Phil 3:10, 14; Acts 20:24).
  2. What do you want? What do you want Jesus to do for you (Mt 20:32; Mk 10:51)?
  3. How are you following Jesus (Jn 21:19, 22)?

  1. Do you want to reach out and make friends (for Christ’s sake)?

  2. Do you make plans to reach out to people?

  3. Do you desire to share Jesus/teach the Bible?

  4. How confident are you about teaching the Bible?

  5. Do you want to be a Bible teacher? Small group leader?

Hi Hannah, Thanks so much for you responses. Yes, what you did was fine. If you do not mind that others read your answers you could also answer and post it online and it will appear on the google groups West Loop UBF Cohort site.

As with John Wesley's 22 questions, would you like the Ignite leaders to also answer these questions? Then we can all pray for each other based on each person's answer to the questions, so that we may hold each other accountable and mutually encourage one another.
