For those of you who might be interested, I have made up a file of my
observations of the state of the Chinese RC model yacht scene here in
Shanghai/Hangzhou. In England I sail an "A" Class, a 6 Metre and a
One Metre. I brought with me to China an aging 10 Rater, which is my
favourite of all the RC Classes, since it is the fastest of all the
recognised classes and a joy to sail, on its own or in a fleet.
However, in order to seek some racing here, I first purchased a 90cm
Monsoon, and then more recently a One Metre, built here in China. The
build quality of the hulls, keels and rudders on the Chinse boats are
extremly good. However, the rigs are a sad sight! But it really does
not take a lot of effort to make significant improvements to the
boats, and indeed can be fun to do. Sorting out a few important
details can make your sailing a whole lot more enjoyable.

The file I have put on this web site is my attempt to help those who
want to improve their boats.

We also really hope to increase the numbers in the One Metre class
here. This class has become immensly popular throughout the world, and
with good reason. The hull - complete with keel and rudder - is small
enough that it fits on its cradle into the boot of an average sized
saloon car, but it is fast and responsive. Great fun to sail, and the
rules are specifically designed to keep the costs down. If you are
thinking about joining into this sport - buy one of these! Contact
Chuck - his email address is at the back of my pdf file. They are
excellent value for money.

We sail at Hangzhou and in Shanghai, just contact myself or Chuck. In
Hangzhou it is especially civilised,as we usually take over the "deck"
at the Sofitel Xanadu Hotel, and are plied drink and food all
afternoon by the waitresses..........
