Hello Western and Central Region,

I write to you from an immensely excited and fresh environment in office as we eagerly prepare to welcome another batch of new recruits into our world.

I mentioned about how this region is all about LCs making their mark in the plenary and there is no better place than an RYLC to do the same, LCs that have brought good delegations to these conferences have always stepped it up a notch after going back home.

A quick concern however, would be recruitment, a lot of you have delayed your recruitment and a lot seem to have recruited just before your exams. I believe a deeper understanding of our student market is needed so as to time these things better in the future.

I also want to address how we are not even sending 50% of our new recruits to RYLC, what are the experiences we are providing them and how affected is their learning environment if they are not attending the conference?

I leave you with a thought :
" The philsophy of one generation in a school room will be the philsophy of the government in the next"
- Abraham Lincoln

I sincerely believe AIESEC is a form of education, so lets do our best for these new recruits and build them to be entreprenerial and responsible leaders for our society in the future.

Regional Initiatives

(as decided at JNC 2012)

The update on the following is based on the regional initiatives tracker:

Career Fair:
We will be taking a follow up of this from LCPs by RYLC to see if it is being run feasibly, this has to be the final boost for your OGX Raising Cycle

Regional ILCEPs

Still hasnt been filled except AIESEC Baroda and Pune, we will not be recognising ILCEPs that are not filled by the time the next newsletter is out

Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhMRPiD-krJYdDBvM3M3ckpnQ3BxUnFyam9yMTROenc#gid=2

Regional CEEDs:
The MC IC Delegation has just returned from IC and is forming an IR Plan based on the output of meetings there, LCs which have specific requirements for CEEDs (with timelines) must write a mail to nagarjun...@gmail.com and CC me (shail....@aiesec.net) and we will get back to you.

Mentor / Mentee LCs

The Mentor / Mentee LC tracker has been filled out by all LCs, we will be following up with all LCs for specific requirements and probably looking for LCs to even host webinars for certain areas that all LCs want to learn f

A lot of you have been in touch with me for initiatives you want to conceptualise on your own, however, none of you have sent in the concept notes as requested in the last newsletter, please do the same by 19th September, 2012.

Expansions

We recently concluded Expansion Coaching Visits as an MC and there were a few inferences I felt I needed to Share with the region:

We do not understand an expansion from their shoes, we need to appreciate and understand that they do not come from an environment where AIESEC exists and they need to be driven differently before AIESEC can truly impact their society

An LC takes up an expansion, a VP Expansion does not, LCs EBs and MBs need to take up support of expansions more seriously so as to provide better expereinces to TLs in the expansion

We take up an expansion to provide more impactful experiences and increase our reach NOT to simply increase the scale of our operations

Communication needs to be frequent, precise and clear with expansions, a good example is that this last newsletter did not reach them all

Regional Drivers

OGCDP:

The number of EPs raised in August in the whole region was 8!!!!

Clearly we need to be picking up big time in September if we plan to send youth abroad through AIESEC.

The key question:
By not delivering on OGX, are we responsible for denying youth in our cities / universities a global life changing leadership experience?

Finance:

Pending Recon has not been paid, please ensure it is paid at the earliest

The NTT are scheduling visits this month with LCs, please be proactive in following up with the finance NTT and make sure your visit is scheduled.

you can write to paritos...@aiesec.net for more information

The Key Question:
After the summer cycle that just went by, are we evolving our programs to ensure that we are delivering them efficiently?

Quality:

Something that I definitely want to address, we have received a lot of complaints and there is a significant share of detractors in NPS from the western region.

Are you providing youth coming to your city a life changing leadership and cultural experience?

Would you recommend the internships in your LC if you had to go abroad all by yourself?

How are you representing your country?

We need to be progressive and evolve our systems, processes and resource management to ensure that we deliver the best experiences henceforth.

Remember:

"The customer is always right"

Things to do:

Most of you have NOT filled the tracker, please ensure you fill it at the earliest, it is part of your LC MoS:

How to make your idea BIG IDEA happen:

Also a cool video on where good ideas come from:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NugRZGDbPFU

A few questions:

Have you made every BIG IDEA you have had happen? If not, why?

Have you shared all your ideas with your team?

Do you create spaces for yourself to develop your hunches into breakthroughs?

The reason I chose to share this particular piece is because I realised during coaching visits that the power of ideas we have are immense. Hope it helps.
