RIGCAA: A MISSION THWARTED
The essence for the formation of RIGCAA was to help uplift the life of its membership and Geepos in motherland and other places such as refugee camps. Its quest was to do away with vices that subjugated us in Grand Gedeh. The vanguard organization was created to fight for unity and against sectionalism among our people at home and abroad. This very Vision and its Mission has been dashed over a period of 12 years as manifested by the little so far achieved in 12 years and the turning of the Association into a club of friends and family members. The trajectory of those who saved the Association through their contribution of constant call for unity cannot be placed into the trash cann of history.
Many Geepos are very much concern about the Rip Van Wingle stage at which RIGCAA is. A search for a new leadership remains the quest of reasonable members of the Association.
Among the greatest issues confronting the Association is level playing field, pivot of RIGCAA from its genesis. Its constitution is the most envolving document of governance with lack of provisions for respect of the civil liberties of members as previously enshrined.
With ten administrative districts in the county, RIGCAA constitution as revised remains the dulliest and lack of reasonableness in addressing the issue of level playing field.
Only two or three at most of every Board leadership since the first Board remains ontop of things and understand what needs to be done. Some, actually have no knowledge of the constitution. How can someone chairs a Board of an organization when he does not even understand the Preamble of its constitution? Concern citizens effort to know what is ongoing in the county is a crime and a reason for baseless attacks and lies.
Some people in the organization will stand up tall when it comes to attacking others due to their association with people their detractors dislike in their own district or in Geepoland as a whole.
But where were they, when the sun was hot? Where were they when we had to flee the country through national student movements: LINSU, AASU and IUS only because of our advocacy for social justice for Geepos,, etc ?
Yes, they smile when one speaks of respecting and uphold their trajectory (if there is any) BUT frown when Geepos yester years progressivses trajectory is upheld like an egg. What a prejudice of politics?
Convention 2012, New Jersey, must be an occasion for truth and reconciliation. Yes, the train has not been derailed but its slow pace has led its right foot in the grave. Frustration remains a dark cloud over RIGCAA 's Rip Van Wingle current stage.
But be not perturbed. The dream lives on and RIGCAA shall rise again to fulfill its Mission and Vision without let or hindrance.
The concern citizens MUST stand up to save the Association by vetting a pro-active leadership. The offices of the co-founders of RIGCAA MUST stand up or their vision will perish. This will not happen even in our graves. New Jersey, here we come well spirited. RGP will be there.
Meanwhile, the Comrade and Ambassador, Conmany B. Wesseh, who arrives in America on April 15th will hopefully address Geepos on April 19th, the anniversary of RIGCAA.
