Our last gathering at WESPAC was truly inspiring, with an impressive lineup of community leaders sharing the powerful campaigns they are leading. It was a reminder of the strength and commitment within our network.
Now, I’m excited to invite you to mark your calendars for our Annual Meeting of Members today this evening Tuesday, October 14th at 6pm at the WESPAC office. This is an important opportunity for all of us to come together, hear from dynamic voices, and make ourselves heard.
We are thrilled to announce two candidates for the WESPAC Board: Dardan Beselica and Steven Rabinowitz. Members in good standing will have the chance to cast a vote for them this evening.
We’re also honored to welcome our special guest, James Coughlin, a tireless advocate from Burning Books in Buffalo, NY. James has been leading the Justice for Geraldine and Martin Campaign, which seeks to exonerate Geraldine Pointer and Martin Sostre—two individuals whose wrongful convictions and fight for justice represent a larger struggle against racial discrimination, political repression, and the misuse of the justice system. James will travel from Buffalo to share his invaluable insights and the progress of this vital campaign.
Additionally, we will break into small groups to discuss WESPAC’s organizational priorities, particularly in this critical time as we face increasing authoritarianism and various crises. This will be an opportunity for all of us to contribute ideas, share perspectives, and shape the future of our collective efforts.
I look forward to seeing you there and continuing this vital work together. We will provide a plant based supper this evening as well.
