A very rare and historic picture: the martyr Omar al-Mukhtar (d. 1931), regarding whom the movie 'Lion of the Desert'' was made, after he performed wudhu in his jail cell to pray two rak'ats before his execution by the Italians.

Omar Al-Mukhtar Muhammad Ibn Farhat Bredan, was the leader of Native Resistance in Eastern Libya against the Italian Colonization of Libya .

He was quoted as saying for 20 years : "We stood against you (Italian colonizers) and with the help of Allah we will stand against you till your end."

The photograph also has the following on it, "History forgets the traitors, and remembers the fighters."
